Mexican police have found five decomposing heads left in a sack outside a primary school in Acapulco. Handwritten messages were also found, reportedly threatening the state governor as well as local drug lords. It was not clear if the discovery of the heads and five decapitated bodies elsewhere in the city was linked to extortion threats against teachers. Dozens of schools have been closed since last month after teachers went on strike over security concerns. Police were called to a street in the Garita neighbourhood of Acapulco on Tuesday morning. There they found a sack inside a wooden crate placed near the school, officers said. Inside were the heads of five men, as well as the threatening messages. Threats Police had earlier discovered five headless bodies in another part of the city, left either inside or near a burned-out vehicle. Acapulco, on Mexico's Pacific coast, has seen several episodes of gruesome violence as drug gangs fight for control of the resort city. The new school year has been disrupted But as the government crackdown on cartels continues, criminal organisations here and in other parts of Mexico are fracturing and increasingly turning to extortion. Last month, as the new school year began, dozens of teachers in Acapulco said criminal gangs had threatened them with violence if they did not hand over half their salaries from 1 October. They and colleagues have since been on strike, leading to the closure of more than 100 schools. Guerrero State Governor Angel Aguirre has promised a series of measures, including increased police patrols and the installation of security cameras and panic buttons in schools. But teachers say they still fear for their own and pupils' safety. One striking teacher told the BBC that although they welcomed the governor's proposals, they could not expect the situation to improve overnight.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-15086909 WTF, you fucking cartels just can't stop doing this kind of sadistic shit. This is just sick.
Wow, that's pretty bad. I have to say though, I expected some Meet the Soldier images when I entered the thread.
such a shame current generation of mexican kids have to go trough this shit
+1 reason to never go to mexico!
I'm starting to think that the Mexican government and the Mexican military can't handle all of this alone. This is out of control.
I'm starting to think that the Mexican government and the Mexican military can't handle all of this alone. This is out of control.
If anything, I think the military still has some substantial power right?
too soon
Damn man every day its something new.
Legalize.
Legalize.
Little late for that it seems. Can't imagine it doing much good, besides pissing off a bunch of dealers and making them want to terrorize the locals any more.
Even if it were legalized and regulated I doubt the US government would be too happy about weed being passed through the borders.
If anything, I think the military still has some substantial power right?
They have substantial power, sure, but how much of it have they been using? They've been doing everything short of rolling down the streets in tanks and dropping bombs on cartel's mansions, and you know what? If a cartel or two were to be bombed out, I don't think you'd hear a single complaint. I'd probably raise hell and make things about a hundred times worse, but the fact that the cartels have the ability to bring the heat to the military is the scariest part. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Even if it were legalized and regulated I doubt the US government would be too happy about weed being passed through the borders.
The thing that people don't realize is that even if we did legalize it (which I'm fine with) the cartels would simply undercut domestic pricing.
The thing that people don't realize is that even if we did legalize it (which I'm fine with) the cartels would simply undercut domestic pricing.
Because that happened with alcohol right?
And that kids, is a zoo!
Oh man, they better get this shit together. It isn't difficult for them to spread over the border, if they haven't already. (Specially in Texas).
It really seems that cartel news is really common now.
Because that happened with alcohol right?
Alcohol was already wide spread, drugs are no where near as wide spread. And to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if cartels weren't bribing governors to keep drugs illegal
The fact that we see at least one of these types of reports every day is fucking horrifying.
Alcohol was already wide spread, drugs are no where near as wide spread. And to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if cartels weren't bribing governors to keep drugs illegal
Not as prevalent as alcohol? Yeah, sure. Not wide spread? Nope. Even then, that doesn't mean cartels can undercut producers not being shat on by the government.
Legalization isn't going to help Mexico, if anything it could make matters worse. I seriously doubt their government can handle this alone. I'm not calling for everyone's favorite World Police Nation to intervene (yet) but Mexico's government and police force is incredibly corrupt.
things are getting out of hand now. Mexico is going to hell very quickly according to these new news reports, surely the military should get involved, this is a potential threat to the public. it won't be long before mass murders and some intervention from the army (since mexican military haven't been known to take part in major conflicts recently)
Legalization isn't going to help Mexico, if anything it could make matters worse.
And your reasoning is?
Legalize.
why do you people keep saying this? its never gonna happen EVER
And your reasoning is?
Lets say it happens (which it won't due to the corrupt government), the cartel will go ballistic and I can only imagine they would be so pissed off they would cause a massacre large enough for the history books. I mean, I hope you don't expect that if they pass a legalization bill all the Cartels magically disappear. Their backlash would be tremendous, so horrifying that Mexico would need assistance.
We're better off trying to find a way to destroy drugs completely really. I'm suprised no one has tried engineering some sort of chemical or something that kills the plants the drugs come from (No i'm not implying that all drugs come from plants) without damaging anything else. I personally hope someone gets on that. (Waiting for all of the potheads and "lol freedom of choice" people to rate this post dumb)
that is the silliest idea i have ever heard if you're being serious then you should probably know that it would be much easier to legalize all drugs than to destroy all the drugs in the world
thats right nerd now give me your lunch money

Fuck gangs.

Cartels are already performing massacres like these as statements; even then, keep in mind a majority of these statements are reactions towards rival cartels not political protest. However, let's say that there is a short spike in violence; what then?
I mean, I hope you don't expect that if they pass a legalization bill all the Cartels magically disappear.
Of course not, but the other most common gang activities aren't nearly as lucrative. Losing the power to buy off as many officials or buying as many weapons or paying as many men isn't a massive blow to the Cartels?

But it's still likely that the cartels will lash out. I'm not talking about a few people being made example of. I'm talking about thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands getting killed. But it doesn't really matter since it's not going to be legalized and won't be for a long, long time.
