The 31-year-old Vietnamese man has had a tumour growing on his right leg since soon after he was born. Despite having an amputation at the knee 14 years ago, he still has a 1m-wide growth. "I can't do anything, I can only sit and lie down," he said in his home in the town of Da Lat in the country's Central Highlands. The tumour is the largest ever documented in Vietnam, Vu Van Thach, head of examination department of Hanoi tumour hospital, told German press agency DPA. "It's a record as far as we know," he said. Hai's family are too poor to afford another operation after the amputation in 1997 failed to stop the growth, and now he is appealing for funds to afford medical help. He lives under the care of his 61-year-old mother. The tumour is non-cancerous and could be due to a genetic mutation, doctor Vu Van Thach said. "If it was malignant he would not be alive now," he said. The Red Cross works with needy communities in Vietnam. What the hell, that's disturbing to look at.
Looks like hes melting.

Vietnamese tumor appeals for help to afford operation to remove 31 year old man. :v: On a serious note, holy crap that thing's huge.
inb4 Jabba the Hutt
I was tempted to quote Jabba in the OP, but then I felt bad and removed it :smith:
Here you can actually see what the fuck it is.
he's had it his entire life and it's just been growing Jesus that must suck
How the hell could anyone allow him to live with something like that without helping him? :ohdear:
Okay, I admit I'm not doctor or surgeon or anything: but how difficult can it be? Just chop the fucker off! Or, if there's more complications the closer to organs/limbs you get: just chop most of the fucker off to a point and then get an operation later on to finish it off when the funds become available.
guy has :q: face
The question being, why would he wait this long before asking for help? I know that they can't afford the operation, but they could have asked for funding a bit earlier. My heart goes out to him though, when i have enough money il donate for his cause. Its like all those pictures on cigarette packets. Why would you wait until you has a tumour the size of your head growing out of your neck before getting medical attention?
wow some of you guys are dicks
Welcome to Facepunch.
A man in a top hat with a shit eating grin is reading this while on the hunt for people for him to take on his carnival.
wow some of you guys are dicks
because?
And the sad thing is, is that this is likely caused by the chemical weapons used on the country by the US
Agent Orange has done some nasty shit to that country. 'Nam was such a terrible, terrible war.
Unbelievable.
because?
joking about cancer
BY THE BEARD OF ZEUS, THAT THING IS MASSIVE!
:wtc: [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] I'm pretty sure the removal procedure of a tumor THAT FUCKING BIG would be really expensive, even for ordinary people like us :/
Agent Orange has done some nasty shit to that country. 'Nam was such a terrible, terrible war.
Throw in the naturally high levels of arsenic in groundwater, and it's a wonder how most of the country doesn't have any form of visible mutation.
good god
You have to wonder how it grew that big. Probably agent orange.
How much could it cost to remove it? A couple thousand USD? Sad that it didn't work the first time. [editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
He must be enduring continuous pain.
Not necessarily. Benign tumors are usually just extra flesh. Not painful. It's probably just really, really uncomfortable.
