“Cameron’s approach is bomb first, talk later." says Corbyn
David Cameron has appealed to Conservative MPs to give him an overall parliamentary majority in favour of military action in Syria by warning them against voting alongside “Jeremy Corbyn and a bunch of terrorist sympathisers”. MPs will vote late on Wednesday after a 10-and-a half-hour debate in the Commons. Amid Downing Street concerns that support among backbench Labour MPs is weakening, the prime minister told a meeting of the 1922 committee that he needed to win the vote solely on the basis of Tory MPs’ support to achieve his goal of securing a clear consensus. “You should not be walking through the lobbies with Jeremy Corbyn and a bunch of terrorist sympathisers,” the prime minister reportedly told the committee.
Link to Article: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/dec/01/cameron-accuses-corbyn-of-being-terrorist-sympathiser Corbyn's argument against bombing: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/dec/01/cameron-failed-show-bombing-syria-isil-work-jihadist The debate is currently ongoing in the Commons with a vote expected at 10 oclock whatever british time is (????). Do you think this situation is helping or hurting Corbyn? Initially the new focus on security seemed to hurt him, but a vote to reject bombing would be hugely in his benefit.
What an asshat. Maybe some discussion is worthwhile before entering another war and repeating the same mistakes that we've been repeating in the middle east for decades?
atleast Corbyn knows that you can't kill an ideology just by dropping bombs on it
Do you think this situation is helping or hurting Corbyn? Initially the new focus on security seemed to hurt him, but a vote to reject bombing would be hugely in his benefit.
Definitely hurting him He's done the Labour party more harm in 3 months than 13 years of government did.
At this point becoming an active participant in bombing Syria is nothing but a feel good move. France, Russia, Turkey, Iraq and the US are bombing Daesh already. Offer them munitions, use of airfields and intelligence if you want to be useful.
Update: Cameron refuses to apologize
I guess the Canadian PM is a terrorist sympathizer too
what is going on in britain honestly how is it that someone saying 'lets stop and think before we go and bomb shit' makes him LOSE poll numbers
what is going on in britain honestly how is it that someone saying 'lets stop and think before we go and bomb shit' makes him LOSE poll numbers
Because we want to bomb shit, and Corbyn is a known pacifist. Stands to reason this would make him unpopular. Unfortunately, though I dislike Corbyn intensely, this does play into Cameron's reptilian hands quite well, which is not good for anyone either.
what is going on in britain honestly how is it that someone saying 'lets stop and think before we go and bomb shit' makes him LOSE poll numbers
Most of the media are tory/rightwing lapdogs. The metro (yesterday i think it was) found a way to blame corbyn for war. [t]http://pbs.twimg.com/media/CVFzB81W4AAbyJJ.png[/t] It's bs. Democracy won't fucking work if people are only fed lies and misinformation. We (the electorate) are getting played and no-lube-ass-fucked repeatedly by people who don't give a shit about us. It's fucking infuriating how stupid the British people are. Consider that metro, while its quality isn't sterling, is generally considered more impartial compared to the filth that is daily mail, telegraph and the sun.
the UK media is the fucking worst worse than Fox in the USA
The complete lack of disrespect people hold for Jeremy Corbyn, simply because of the fact they disagree with him, is ridiculous. What happened to refuting his arguments rather than trying to label him as a terrorist sympathiser?
Hasn't it always been this way though
In some ways, yes, the same was done to Ed Milliband, however I honestly think that as politicians go, Jeremy Corbyn is one of the best ones we have and the way he is being treated is ridiculous. That isn't to say that I think he has the best or most agreeable views, just that he stands by what he says and the people who voted for him get what they voted for, and it's depressing that this is how we respond to that.
Corbyn already fucking suggested on the BBC that we fuck up supply lines instead of bombing which is by far the smarter tactic and consistently proven over centuries to be the main way of defeating an enemy.
Corbyn already fucking suggested on the BBC that we fuck up supply lines instead of bombing which is by far the smarter tactic and consistently proven over centuries to be the main way of defeating an enemy.
so cameron knows less about military strategy than a mostly anti-interventionist pacifist i.e. he knows nothing about how to do a core thing he's campaigning on no wonder he's getting so defensive this is hilarious
Definitely hurting him He's done the Labour party more harm in 3 months than 13 years of government did.
The media will only stop slamming Labour leaders when they elect someone slightly to the right of the Conservatives.
So David Cameron has the same argumentative depth as most Facepunchers, then.
Fuck me, I guess I know a lot of terrorists sympathizers too, infact there were a load on a march/protest recently!
Arrest the lot of them! National security!!! edit :geuinely fear the direction this country is heading in. A politican shouldn't publically be able to call his opponent a threat to national security, its outright deceit.

Not unexpected.
If you're not with us, you're a terrorist. Noooooothing wrong with this logic. If Corbyn suddenly gets detained without charge using anti-terrorism laws, shit is gonna happen fast.
David Cameron is a terrorist sympathiser for providing weapons to an unstable region where one day they are freedom fighters and the next day they are terrorists
what is going on in britain honestly how is it that someone saying 'lets stop and think before we go and bomb shit' makes him LOSE poll numbers
It's that 9-11esque war fervor
The fact this behavior is viewed as acceptable by the national media and large portions of the general public is fucking disgusting. We wouldn't let insults be flung around in workplaces/schools/general public areas so why the hell should we let our leader insult people like this? Fuck this shit man, this country is getting worse by the minute.
cameron should have fucked off 10 years ago
Listening to BBC R1 on the way home today was interesting. They had a small segment on NewsBeat about this and the divide in opinions seemed largely age based. Most of the people over 20 who called in seemed thirsty as fuck for blood, whilst 15 year olds were able to point out the fucking obvious such as; "the tories keep making cuts saying we can't afford things how can we pay for this then you muppets". Man. I hope everyone who voted the Tories in is proud of themselves. You've let a petulant manchild with no consideration for his fellow man run the country.
what is going on in britain honestly how is it that someone saying 'lets stop and think before we go and bomb shit' makes him LOSE poll numbers
It's because This is the garbage our people are reading. Genuinely wouldn't be that surprised if this happened.
Corbyn already fucking suggested on the BBC that we fuck up supply lines instead of bombing which is by far the smarter tactic and consistently proven over centuries to be the main way of defeating an enemy.
And how do you accomplish this? Airstrikes. This is already happening. 676 Staging areas, 4517 Buildings and 260 Oil Infrastructure targets destroyed as of 13 November 2015. Major elements on the left insisting that we "stop and think" and "not target civilians" are highly insulting to the intelligence of the Armed forces and impart a lack of interest in the issue outside of the recent debate.
people can't get over the fact that people are right-wing and buy papers that they agree with and echo their opinions, not that they're manipulated by evil lizards into voting tory [editline]2nd December 2015[/editline] Extremely stupid and unhelpful comments from Cameron, because even though Corbyn is a terrorist sympathiser (and so is McDonnell), plenty of both Labour and Conservative opponents to bombing are not, so it is insulting to place them into the same camp.
