This is not for me, it's for a friend. He wants a laptop for trips where he can play games too. He thinks the M11x looks alright for the price. Any thoughts on quality there?

not worth it IMO, long battery, nice gpu and cpu and tab bigger
From my understanding is great if you want the small(er) size. For at home gaming though, you'd probably want an external monitor. And mouse. And keyboard. And speakers.
velocity micro is the better retail gaming pc brand
All Alienware PCs are shit, in terms of hardware vs price.
Period.
Seriously.
Starting price with 1.3GHz C2D: $800
Starting price with 1.07GHz i5: $950

Speed doesn't matter as much as the architecture. From what I heard, the CPU doesn't run that bad at all, don't let the clock speeds fool you. (From what I HEARD.)
Right, but I can easily get a better HP laptop HP with the same price.

I know architecture can matter a lot, but if two CPU's are the same architecture and stuff, and one of them is double the clock speed of the other, wouldn't it be actually double the speed? Or am I missing something here?
Sure, they're good computers, but they are VERY overpriced. I suggest not buying Alienware, but instead something else. Gateway is very good for example.

no because clock speed doesn't scale 100% with programs and applications
