We recently reported about the growing rumors of a PS4 Jailbreak (or, rather, a technique to run pirated games rather than a way to install a PS4 CFW) coming from Brazil. After we investigated the initial source of this PS4 Jailbreak news, the facebook page of a small Brazilian modchip store, several things happened: The store in question pulled all information off their facebook page, claiming the high level of publicity could lead them to trouble, and a bunch of people contacted me to let me know they either knew about the technique, or had seen it in action.

Hackers from the PS3/PS Vita/PS4 scene have been in touch with me to describe to me a process that is being used on PS3s to copy licenses of a game. The trick involves activating a console for an account, making a copy of its NAND, deactivating it, then copying back the previously saved NAND. A similar technique is also being used on the PS4, it seems. According to the hackers who have contacted me though, the tricks known for this have been patched by Sony on 2.51 and could brick the console, as mentioned recently by cfwprohpet on Playstationhax.it. The Brazilian modchip stores, however, seem to imply their technique works on 2.51.

Tiny electronics stores in Brazil charge somewhere between $100 and $150 to install about 10 recent games on a PS4 with their technique. They are, of course, keeping the technique a secret, in order for it to not get patched, but also so that they can run a profitable business reselling pirated games. If this is the same technique as the one described by sceners above, then it is dubious it would work on 2.51. Because of this, it is difficult to get a clear confirmation, or proof that this fully works. One can only rely on the reputation of these shops, which in general is quite high based on the reviews on the eBay-like sites where they operate. After the “first” store to claim they had access to this PS4 jailbreak decided to keep quiet about it, a few others surfaced again in Brazil. Some stores are selling a bulk of 10 games for a fee on eBay-like marketplaces. Others are basically doing the same, and announcing they are in possession of the PS4 Jailbreak, showcasing the results for their clients.

Here’s what one commenter, Keko, from Brazil, had to say about this PS4 Jailbreak news in our comments section. The comment below aligns with most of the emails/tips I have received so far on this technique: Hey bros! The hack is real, and it is not a real hack, but a real bypass, they are using a very simple and old technique from the MSX age, just simple rewrite eeprom, the quite and simple way to say GO. They arent decrypt or crypt anything. When sony tried to safe secure the PS4 they forgot to hardlock inside the CPU/APU the real hashcode for the bios, this is intent to not allow bios to be exchanged or rewrite, so, as they failure to do it, what the Hackers are doing is just simple running the real software inside one console, you can do it as psn/accounts, so the PS4 add $$$ game info inside the rom! So, they only need to stuff original games and matches run bios roms, so, the ROM/GAME will match and so will execute in the console. Remember that ROM can run a FOREVER SOFTWARE INSTALLED ON IT, so, all the games are REAL ORIGINAL and the PS4 arent hacked at all. The Hack is a bypass of ASM code for follow ROM/BIOS reading using a PI, YES SIMPLE AS BRAZILIAN WAY. But all further games will depend on matches or DUMPS of BIOS/GAME, REMEMBER PS4 GAMES HAVE IT OWN HASH CODE! So, you cant decrypt it like in the PS3 default key, each game has it own key and it must match yo your BIOS coded hash, so, PS4-GAME tied forever! This only doesnt happen in a CD environment, where the hash authenticate the drive and return to PS$$$ that authenticate the BIOS and return with authenticate game, so, it is impossible to use a BYPASS in CD/SATA as no key extraction is possible in a 4 way schema. BUT THE WAY BRAZILIAN DID IS POSSIBLE, SIMPLE AND WILL RUN! They just simplified the way to do it! PI is just to enable flashing/reflashing/ontimeflash/simulation of BIOS.
http://wololo.net/2015/05/11/ps4-jailbreak-news-ps4-games-are-easy-to-pirate-rumors-keep-pouring-from-brazil-and-the-scene/
Now the PS4 just needs games and they'll be set.
Now the PS4 just needs games and they'll be set.
Pirate PT
Baning spree incoming?
Well no wonders since games in Brazil are like what, 120% taxed?
Now the PS4 just needs games and they'll be set.
Aside from Bloodborne what else does the Ps4 have?
Aside from Bloodborne what else does the Ps4 have?
Indie games that are shared with PS3 most of the time. And the Infamous, I guess
If this is legit I predict PS4 sales jumping up a notch
If this is legit I predict PS4 sales jumping up a notch
it's too risky right now and is being kept a close guarded secret, it's nowhere near the level as the ps3's jailbreak
Hopefully this can lead P.T. to be safely preserved and played.
Well no wonders since games in Brazil are like what, 120% taxed?
Add that to the fact that the dollar skyrocketed the last months. There a place nearby that does this stuff. They sell PS3, Xbox360 and Wii with tons of games installed. If this is legit, I'm sure they'll be soon selling PS4. Cheaper than stores too.
From Witcher III and BloodBorne to The Order, Dying Light or GTAV? There will be tons of games for us to HU3HU3 BR upon.
From Witcher III and BloodBorne to The Order, Dying Light or GTAV? There will be tons of games for us to HU3HU3 BR upon.
Cant play online though....
Cant play online though....
There's plenty of SP games.
Aside from Bloodborne what else does the Ps4 have?
Driveclub and Resogun are games I like a lot.
Well no wonders since games in Brazil are like what, 120% taxed?
because in brazil, video games are considered gambling machines for some inane reason(our tax for video games is higher than fucking firearms). meanwhile PC games are considered software and have virtually no tax(if i'm not mistaken its something like 5% tax at most).
Cant play online though....
why? surely if you're making the console think the game is legitimate it should have no problems with it
Now the PS4 just needs games and they'll be set.
There are 450 games available on PS4. 132 games with 'generally favorable' or higher on metacritic. This PS4 has no games meme is stupid and obviously not true. At the risk of being called fanboy, the XB1 has 340 games, more than 100 less than PS4, so why isn't "XB1 has no games" a thing? The "indies aren't real games" and "multiplatform games aren't real games" thing is extremely stupid too.
Putting numbers on the air like this is a good argument as this graph [thumb]http://www.techxav.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/iPhone_vs_ds_vs_psp_99528_screen.jpg[/thumb] There isn't a single game maybe for exception of Bloodborne which has multiplat equivalents that catches my attention on the PS4
But you only like Zelda and mid 1990s PC arena FPS games, Sam.
What's with all the obsession over fucking Bloodborne. It's just a simple Demon's Souls spin off.
The only reason I would ever buy a ps4 for is Bloodborne but I heard that was really disappointing for souls fans. But I guess wait until e3 for more exclusives? I guess? I bet Sony is going to fuck up hard like last year though.
Aside from Bloodborne what else does the Ps4 have?
Seriously just Bloodborne. I've had a PS4 since October of last year and Bloodborne is what really made me think "yup, now it's worth it." Don't me wrong, it has other great games that are multiplats and infamous is really cool but Bloodborne actually makes it a worthwhile purchase if you're even into that type of game PT too
What's with all the obsession over fucking Bloodborne. It's just a simple Demon's Souls spin off.
It's really fucking good in both gameplay and aesthetics. What's not to like?
What's with all the obsession over fucking Bloodborne. It's just a simple Demon's Souls spin off.
It's an incredibly good successor to an extremely good game. Do you like Demon's Soul? Bloodborne is better.
What's with all the obsession over fucking Bloodborne. It's just a simple Demon's Souls spin off.
its the only aaa exclusive game that the ps4 has thats good.
Aside from Bloodborne what else does the Ps4 have?
Infamous Second Son, Infamous First Light, Infa-oh, that's it.
Figured I'd make a handy list for people to check out. Good retail: Infamous Second Son (and First Light), Driveclub, Bloodborne, The Last of Us, MLB, LBP3, Guilty Gear XRD Decent retail: Killzone SF, The Order 1886 Good digital: Resogun, Sound Shapes, Fl0w, Flower, Dead Nation, Hohokum, Entwined, Velocity 2x, The Unfinished Swan, Olli Olli 2, Super Stardust Ultra Notable upcoming games: Rime, Uncharted 4, God of War 3:R, Ratchet and Clank Redux, Until Dawn, Disgaea 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, Persona 5, Journey, Tearaway Unfolded, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Gran Turismo 7, The Tomorrow Children, Wild, The Last Guardian, Horizon, Untitled game from Heavy Rain team Upcoming notable games on both PS4 and XB1 but not PC (probably more, but I am only aware of these two): Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV Also, sequels to God of War and The Last of Us have been heavily hinted at.
Please do not list LBP3 as a good PS4 game. Not only is it a PS3 game (people look for exclusive ps4 only games when they buy a new ps4), it is also littered with glitches, does not have all the LBP DLC ever made ported, and game-breaking errors that destroy saves. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/LittleBigPlanet-3-Causing-Problems-PS3-PS4-Owners-68739.html it's depressing because its the only exclusive series that has impressed me on the PS3. games like Infamous are cool on the PS4 but it is not a console seller or 100% worth buying immediately. would say persona 5 is a ps4 seller but its coming on the ps3 too so ya
Call me crazy but I dont think the Xbone is any better off than the PS4 on exclusivity. I can only think of 3 exclusives off the top of my head to the Xbox that would make that purchase desirable and that's Halo, Gears, and Forza. And those are already very strong foundational games that have succeeded for many years. I chose the PS4 over the xbox and i haven't thought twice about that decision coming from the 360 and never owning the PS3. By the end of last gen consoles, the PS3 became a very successful console despite it's low popularity from launch. Give the PS4 a chance to show its potential. We're only just now starting to get into development for purely next gen consoles.
