https://usuncut.com/politics/trump-supporter-stands-outside-polling-place-gun-police-say-cool/
Predictions of Donald Trump supporters engaging in voter suppression and intimidation at polling places are coming true in a critical swing state. In Loudoun County, Virginia, which is one of the wealthiest in the nation, a man wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt and carrying a firearm was seen standing outside of the county registrar’s office in Leesburg, offering voters Republican sample ballots before entering the building. Erika Cotti, who had her 9-year-old son in tow when entering the polling place, told the Huffington Post she felt “intimidated.” “I had to explain to my 9-year-old why a man with a 357 magnum is standing outside the polling station,” Cotti said, alleging the man was blocking their path when they left the registrar’s office. After Cotti declined the Trump supporter’s sample ballot, the man simply laughed and said, “Who are you going to vote for? Crooked Hillary?” Cotti told him her vote was none of his business.
voter intimidation of any sort should be outlawed and punished. its no better than voter fraud
why is this shit even legal? it's only in third world countries that you expect this sort of thing
I fucking dare them to try anything.
why is this shit even legal? it's only in third world countries that you expect this sort of thing
Voter intimidation is definitely not legal.
We've really declined as a society, holy shit
Tuesday is gonna be a fucking nightmare.
Fucking call the cops and drive the fucks out.
We've really declined as a society, holy shit
when gun rights are more important than human rights this is what happens
why is this shit even legal? it's only in third world countries that you expect this sort of thing
Open carry laws vary from state to state. Virginia's one of the ones that permits it and doesn't require a license. Virginia's also south of the Mason-Dixon line, if that explains anything. He was clearly interfering with the election process, however. I don't know why the police didn't snatch him up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_electioneering this is illegal tho
Would this not be classed as a form of voter suppression in the states? Or is this not specifically breaking any laws there? Sounds like it should be something you should report to the authorities.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_electioneering this is illegal tho
doesn't seem to be widely practised over the whole country though
its not but this is virginia
why is this shit even legal? it's only in third world countries that you expect this sort of thing
Because it's a single man with a holstered pistol in a state that permits open/concealed carry and who isn't within 40 feet of a polling place? They should amend the law to extend the range or do something to prevent idiots like this, but you're really pushing the "sensational" part of SH with an article about "heavily armed Trump supporters patrolling stations".
but remember kids, crooked hillary is rigging the election!
its not but this is virginia
true that, but it really does surprise me that the practice isn't banned over the whole country it sorta gives the impression that most americans are ambivalent or accepting of the practice, especially when this dude saw nothing wrong with what he was doing
but remember kids, crooked hillary is rigging the election!
Because one redneck handing out pamphlets is somehow equivalent to nationwide media and party collusion? lol
Trump is right about voter fraud Voter intimidation is a type of fraud right?
alleging the man was blocking their path when they left the registrar’s office.

the man simply laughed and said, “Who are you going to vote for? Crooked Hillary?” Cotti told him her vote was none of his business.
Lock him up.

Get out of here with this dumb overarching analysis of the American psyche, you do this in almost every thread relating to guns and you're always light years off base. If you actually read the article you'd see that people at the polling station effectively told the guy to cover his gun up and fuck off, but keep rambling about how Americans are ambivalent of "heavily armed men" patrolling our polling stations like we live in some anarchistic dystopia.

This is asking for a police shooting to happen.

You know so much about Americans. I'm impressed
Somebody is going to die this week from this.
This is asking for a police shooting to happen.
In what possible universe is this related to police shootings
In what possible universe is this related to police shootings
All its gonna take is one escalated situation between these fucks and the police and they'll have a martyr fueling their anger. This is seriously dangerous and needs to be handled very carefully.
In what possible universe is this related to police shootings
Are you telling me that a dude walking around with an open carry firearm, intimidating voters who you think are voting for a corrupt dictator and/or committing voter fraud, won't put them at higher risk from a deadly escalation of force? The type of people who carry guns and intimidate voters asking people who they're going to vote for are the type of people who probably dream about dying for their right to be a dumbass. My post isn't an attack on open carry, or an attack on escalation of force, but an attack on idiots who are paranoid enough to patrol polling places with firearm because they delusional to think that democracy is on it's knees.
