Some new strings pop up on steam beta

Sounds like a nice feature that I will use on those games that I don't play, but my friends have always wanted to.
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN, NEWELL!?!

That would actually be really useful. Like rent a game for cheaper for about a week, then it gets removed from your game list. Would be very useful for games with next-to-no replayability.
I have tons of games that I've finished or can't run on my PC and would be glad to give to my friends. This will be great if it isn't too restricted.
Oh man if this is real, it's gonna be amazing
It would be amazing to be able to lend out games that you aren't actively playing.
Yes, just throw in a waiting period so it can't be abused, and boom, I'm buying all my games on steam
Automated steam bots that you rent games from.
Or just game rentals via Steam. Oh gawd.
I still want my steam version of PS+
if its what it seems like it is then holy crap thats awesome
Sorry but, wheres the source? Am I missing it? Can anyone else say this is true?
That's actually something completely new in that field. I'm eager to hear more news about it.
Although they should really revamp the store and the Steam app, it feels bloated and runs really slow.
Soon the "it's just like steam excuse" with the Xbox One will no longer be valid
[sp]Even though it wasn't in the first place.[/sp]
A lending and renting system would be pretty awesome if you could set the thing to decay and kill itself after a set period of time, avoiding the "backup and offline" method.
Maybe with this my friends will stop badgering me to let them use my steam account.

More new/changed stuff in the Steam beta.
Also, Spotify integration (I think).
What use would Spotify integration have?
What use would Spotify integration have?
Uh it would show your friends what you're listening to, it would be integrated into the steam overlay, it would be an incredible addition.
What use would Spotify integration have?
Because everything else has it integrated now? Could just be now playing support which would be neat in itself.
I bet it's only going to be Valve-only games that we've all played already for a few months before a few indie games allow it, then a long while before anybody else catches on.

actually it's possible this will work exactly like the xbox1 :)
actually it's possible this will work exactly like the xbox1 :)
though I don't see valve having the Mountains of restrictions that Xbone will have in place.
We'll see.
actually it's possible this will work exactly like the xbox1 :)
Steam has self-publishing and the system enjoys the advantages of PC being an open platform. Xbox1 will never be like Steam.

Do you mean the first Xbox or the Xbox One?
Do you mean the first Xbox or the Xbox One?
The xbox one with the way lending within the system is meant to work. Since the restriction on the style of lending make sense from an account based system.
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title" "Shared game library"
makes me wonder, Maybe "shared library" will be some sort of group thing that, if one person buys a game and puts it in, any one person in the group can play the game.
But only one person at a Time, and from what this says
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_OwnerT ext" "Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it's time to quit."
The person who originally purchased the game reserves the right to boot people off of it.
I wonder if multiple people pledge copies of the same game into a single shared group that this will allow as many people to play the game as there are copies pledged.
This could be very interesting.

Since we haven't heard any announcements it could well be similar to the Xbox One's "library" concept, but I'm guessing it'll be more on a per-game basis than with a pool of friends. We'll have to wait till Valve say something.
what I want to see is, take a 60 dollar game and the ability to rent it for 5 days for 5 dollars. You can play it full versionwith that time, but after that, nope. After renting, 5 dollars is removed from the total price, as you rented it for 5 dollars.
This means "Try before you buy pirating" is much more useless.
If this is true than Valve has pushed us into a new age of game buying. All competition will have to do the same to match Steam and it will become standard.
