how much deditated wams do I need for minecraft?
I don't know, but I've been told I should download more of it.
I fancy myself a pretty smart person when it comes to building and upgrading Personal Computers but RAM timings are still arcane runes to me. Just turn on XMP and hope for the best.

Operating systems work hard to avoid touching the disk unless necessary, and when they need to, they schedule those otherwise unused cycles to other processes or puts the CPU in a power-saving state to minimize waste. I wonder how noticeable is thrashing when using an SSD.
