Multiple sources with knowledge of the matter have told TechRadar and VRFocus that Oculus VR is planning to launch its finalised headset in a limited, Google Glass-style rollout. That rollout will happen "by Summer next year," we've been informed. One source told us that April 2015 had been set as a release target, but added that Oculus may push this back to the summer as the plans were still not entirely nailed down. The company will be dealing with distribution internally, with only a pre-determined number of headsets to be made available for the initial launch phase. Apparently Oculus wants to gauge interest with both consumers and retailers before making its headset fully available to everyone, hence the limited launch.
That was fast.
All I want is a finished product so I can wear it and fly around in space and feel like I'm in the cockpit
All I want is a finished product so I can wear it and fly around in space and feel like I'm in the cockpit
Now that you mention it, Space Engineers would be absolutely nausea-inducing with the Oculus Rift. It already gives me vertigo on a regular monitor.
I just want to be able to pre-order, if not I might actually camp out for once.
Now I can have sex without the screaming!
What is the difference between developer version and consumer version? I'm expecting the consumber version to cost about $250.

Can't wait to finally step into the hot little anime body I've always deserved to have.
It's gonna be so cool :v:
Gonna wait for second customer generation at least. And to make sure people don't lose sight/their mind after using it for a few months.
Apparently Oculus wants to gauge interest with both consumers and retailers
Do they really still need to do that? I guess even with the hype that has died down, a lot of people are still eagerly waiting to get their hands on one

It's obvious there's a lot of interest but it's hard to tell how much exactly.
Out of the few VR headsets that are being made, I'm interested in the Glyph the most. The big difference between this and the Rift, is that it doesn't use a conventional screen, it uses a fuckload of tiny mirrors with the fancy term "Virtual Retinal Display".

I want a VR headset with dolby vision so i can have realistic flash blindness.

Still, their solution seems a bit more flexible than the Rift's, since it also does AR and you can extend the tracking to full 360°. It seems to be a bit more expensive though, and as long as there's no common SDK few programs will support it.
All I need is that boob thing and I'll finally be able to grope my waifu tits
are you a rapist? :pwn:
It was a joke.
is it 60fps?
I want a VR headset with dolby vision so i can have realistic flash blindness.
aww shit, getting hit by a flashbang is going to suck with these
is it 60fps?

Other co-founder Palmer Luckey also stated that the consumer system's resolution would get a "significant increase" over the DK2's 1080p display, with a refresh rate that will hit 90Hz or higher.
I'm so fucking excited for this, can't wait
Do we have a date for when pre orders will be opened?
ArmA 2 with Oculus Rift, here I come! (I hope)
Can't wait to play Terraria and Papers Please
Multiple sources with knowledge of the matter have told TechRadar and VRFocus that Oculus VR is planning to launch its finalised headset in a limited, Google Glass-style rollout.
So $1500 for the privilege of beta testing their hardware for them?
So $1500 for the privilege of beta testing their hardware for them?
If I remember correctly the estimated price on launch will be between 200-400$.
So $1500 for the privilege of beta testing their hardware for them?
And it'll just never end up having a consumer release. Seriously... Glass was set up to be a failure from the start.
