I have a BEFW11S4 v4 (Wireless B) router by Linksys, and It has firmware 1.52.03 on it (Latest).
However...
I need firmware downgraded to 1.50.14, and I can't find a download of it anywhere. Linksys's site only has the latest, which I already have.
Help?
What's exactly wrong with the old one? I don't think the built-in firmware will let you downgrade easily either.
The downgrade will go fine, it won't block me... but I need the older firmware because it's more stable than the latest release.
Dd-wrt?
DD-WRT (Or any open firmware) is not supported on this piece of shit, and My friend's ISP won't allow us to use any other router than what they provide us with, or we will get charged extra.

What?
Last I checked unless it's a modem+router combo they can't do that.
I don't know how they found out, but they could see my D-Link, and threatened to charge me if I didn't put back their Linksys.
Could they have found it by checking what Mac Address they were receiving from the router? I dunno much about networking stuff, but i would think ISP'
s have access to their MAC addys. ?

It's not a modem+router combo box right?

You're plugged into their DSLAM at the exchange, of course they know exactly what you have.

quite easily, doesn't sound like you know much about networking
What if I clone the mac address from the Linksys to the D-link, and give the D-link's name "Linksys"?
would that work?

Not really. I know bare basics.
I have no idea the problem term for the modem+router all in one thing box. But I'm pretty sure they can't charge you for using a different router if it's not one of those.
Each device has it's own mac address which is how they are identified I think.
But hey pixel, check your contract to see if it states you have to use theirs.

it doesn't work like that, there's nothing you can do, your friend has a bad ISP, especially if they've got a policy against third party hardware (they probably don't have the capacity to make adjustments to the DSLAM, or don't want to)
Well for what it's worth, it's Wave Broadband. Their service is horribly unreliable, and their hardware is nearly a decade old. I guess I just have to live with it until I can afford my own 3G connection.
