One of the things I do not know alot about is memory compatability. So basically my mobo has 4 DDR3 slots. only go up to 1600mhz. and i already filled two of the slots with two 2gb (1333mhz 10666) sticks. Would it be possible to take two 4gb sticks and put them in the other slots making up to 12gb ram and work? (btw the two 4gb sticks are at the same speed)
As long as the ram sticks all have the same voltage and timings, you should be okay. It is possible to alter the voltage and timings in the BIOS, but since this is a very "noob" question, I suggest you leave your BIOS alone. :) Edit: If you are using Windows 7 32 bit or older OS, then the maximum RAM you can use is 4gb.
