The Les Paul that was willed to to me - General

So a family friend of ours died a while back due to cancer. It was a few days after Halloween (he died on Halloween) and i got home and my Dad pointed to a gutair case and said that Jim left it for me. As I was surprised I walked over to the case and budged open the latches as they were kinda stuck. I opened it and right there was a Les Paul, mine. How old is it? Those white finishes tend to yellow with age, but that one's nice and bright.

Why did people rate me dumb? I asked what brand it is, as he didn't say what it was, and the picture doesn't show a brand either.

From the look of those tuning pegs and the headstock I think it's an Epiphone. Still a very nice guitar though, I'd definitely keep it.

Epiphones sometimes have metal tuning heads instead of the Gibson plastic ones, and there is no ornamental pattern on the headstock. Aside from the name on the headstock, that's generally the only difference.

I have a feeling that Lennon used a Rickenbacker as his main electric. Could have had one of those though.

The two companies are closely affiliated, but depending on which one it was made in can make a HUGE difference in the value of it.
