So a family friend of ours died a while back due to cancer. It was a few days after Halloween (he died on Halloween) and i got home and my Dad pointed to a gutair case and said that Jim left it for me. As I was surprised I walked over to the case and budged open the latches as they were kinda stuck. I opened it and right there was a Les Paul, mine.
Heres a picture of it:

As I understand its from the 70s because of the yellowing which shows its rather old.
Nice guitar
Wow, that's really nice.
I bet when you play it, a ghost takes over and makes you fuckin' shred
Are you actually going to play with it or just keep it safe, like, for decoration or something?
Wow that's a beauty... Do you play?
Sorry about your family friend, btw
That's HOT
What brand is it?
To answer all questions I am going to learn to play as this is something I NEED to learn to do
What brand is it?
fender
Dude, that's fucking awesome
Massive respect for you, I'm so jealous.
Do you know what kind of model and year? Because if it's from the 60's or 70's you truly have a collectors item.
If it was in sunburst I'd fap to it, but seriously congrats that's a lucky break
Sorry about your friend though :(, you have my sympathy.
I suppose it is a Gibson and not a Epiphone?
You learn to play that fucker.
And you write a song about how it got into your possession.
You will become a star, trust me.
How old is it? Those white finishes tend to yellow with age, but that one's nice and bright.
Looks lovely. Your family friend must really have appreciated your family.
Why did people rate me dumb? I asked what brand it is, as he didn't say what it was, and the picture doesn't show a brand either.
What brand is it?
Why's everyone rating this guy dumb? Gibson ain't the only company that makes Les Paul-shaped guitars.
But there are only 12 months in a year.

He didn't say it was LP-shaped, he said it was an LP.

Gibson aren't the only brand that makes those either, there's also Epiphone
From the look of those tuning pegs and the headstock I think it's an Epiphone. Still a very nice guitar though, I'd definitely keep it.

I thought Gibson gutars and Epiphones looked exactly the same
I thought Gibson gutars and Epiphones looked exactly the same
Not always. Epiphones sometimes have metal tuning heads instead of the Gibson plastic ones, and there is no ornamental pattern on the headstock. Aside from the name on the headstock, that's generally the only difference.

Les Paul studio
:(

Their headstock is different though.
That's a Gibson headstock btw, you can tell by the angle it arches in.
Sexy guitar, made more awesome by how you got it. Treasure that shit.
Didn't John Lennon have a guitar like this?
I have a feeling that Lennon used a Rickenbacker as his main electric. Could have had one of those though.
Wow I did not know that it had mother of pearl...
He didn't say it was LP-shaped, he said it was an LP.
And LP's are made by Gibson and Epiphone.
A Les Paul isn't the brand, that's the [I]type.

It's like a guy guys says "my dad left me this stratocaster in his will" a legit question would be is it a Fender, or is it a Squier?"
The two companies are closely affiliated, but depending on which one it was made in can make a HUGE difference in the value of it. It was a fair question

Now here's a better question: what year was it made? I think you can check the serial number to find out.
