The good: It's a step in the right direction from Conviction
The bad: "Fourth Echelon", no Ironside
that is all you need to know about Blacklist.
I'd consider it but they pulled coop on the Wii u version for some reason...
It's a good game, just don't expect it to be a Chaos Theory clone

Why's 4E such a bad thing? I mean by the end of Conviction 3E had such an awful fucking name to it that it couldn't feasibly go on.
Stealth is way too easy in this game. I miss the old splinter cells where fucking up stealth meant you'd be probably get your ass kicked.

I'm sorry but did you actually play the game already?

I'd rather have a fighting chance if I fuck up.

i wasnt aware the game was out

also wtf is with people saying that the old games had stealth as the only viable option. People seem to forget that in CT, the most widely fucking praised game in the series, there were entire loadouts provided by the game that were designed for maximum gung-ho killing potential.

Shh, don't ruin their nostalgia.

Not to mention Splinter Cell 1 had parts where you were forced into combat.

Chaos Theory was also the first game which didn't have alarm limits, let you modify the SC-2000 on the fly, and had intelligent AI enemies who actually searched for you. In Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow getting an alarm made things slightly harder, but it was just a 3 strikes and you're out thing. In Conviction there are no alarms and the worst you can do is make the nearby enemies alert. In Chaos Theory alarms made enemies equip helmets and heavier armour.

If you were quick, or knew the combat situations were coming up, you could avoid most of the combat by setting up traps.

One word, Kalinatek.

the 3 alarms thing is knowingly made fun of in CT though
like it's an archaic system that was in need of improvement, and the games have done nothing but that so far

People already have playthroughs up. There's parts where the guy climbs up the side of a brightly lit train car and the enemy's detection meter raised up slightly and then disappeared like nothing fucking happened.
You also have like 5 full seconds to knock someone out before they sound an alarm (if they see you).
Also there's a section in the game where you play as [sp]Briggs, Sam's operation partner who usually helps you as sniper support[/sp] and you're FORCED into a first person shooter section.
Here's the section I was talking about where the AI just blindly ignores Sam (also major game spoilers if you watch the entire video) http://youtu.be/r_odwLN8xcE?t=9m28s
Here's the first forced FPS section http://youtu.be/r_odwLN8xcE?t=3m20s (again major game spoilers)
god that trailer was shit
"gotta go beyond the rules to save muh freedoms!"

okay so there's an FPS section that the dude did shit at
just because you're first person doesn't mean sneaking is no longer possible.
also 5 seconds to knock someone out is pretty fucking reasonable, they shouldn't trigger an alarm the instant they see you because that's retarded
you seem to be calling back to the old games way of doing things which was stupidly difficult for all the wrong reasons
any stealth game that FORCES you to stealth and it's game over if you don't is a bad game, even Thief gives you plenty of ways to get out of being caught
I have personally enjoyed every Splinter Cell game in the series for its own unique reasons.
Even Double Agent?
I have personally enjoyed every Splinter Cell game in the series for its own unique reasons.
Conviction was fun in it's own way.

Now we wait for the Ironside voice replacement mod.
Even Double Agent?
Well it was probably my least favorite, but it wasn't horrible.

Same, I fucked that chick and nothing came out of it!
biggest flaw is the lack of ironside
i mean come on you can't have sam without ironside

they way they got the voices and shit in this game was they mocapped the animations while recording
ironside is too old for that

I don't see any real reason as to why they couldn't just dub over the lipsync with Ironside's voice acting, but regardless that's how it ended up. Still, they could have at LEAST gotten an actor that sounds the proper age, rather than "generic 30ish year old."
Ah well.

I've played it and you're completely wrong. On perfectionist (the way it's meant to be played) you can't even hide at eye level and expect to move at all. And if you're caught, 2 bullets will kill you.

Sans non-ironside, this is the best one since chaos theory IMO.

i don't really like the idea of not having ironside sam, but at the same time i can kind of understand why they don't have him.
i like to think that "sam fisher" is a codename, and this is just a new sam or something.
