Conan's "Clueless Gamer" bit to become its own unscripted TBS series
Conan O'Brien's "Clueless Gamer" YouTube Show, where the late-night show host plays video games and makes fun of them, will soon become its own unscripted TBS series.
TBS president Kevin Reilly revealed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, saying that as part of an effort to shake things up and reinvigorate Conan, TBS has decided to greatly expand "Clueless Gamer." The series will start production next month and will retain most of what made "Clueless Gamer" a viral hit, like getting celebrities to play certain video games with O'Brien and his snarky commentary on them.
"We've gotten to the point where video game companies are sending us their new product for us to play and make fun of because it's been such a huge success," Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter.
Reilly also confirmed that, despite Turner CEO John Martin telling The Wrap that Conan will soon change into a weekly format, the show is remaining nightly.
Hey gamers, my name is Conan O'Brien and welcome to part #528 of my Minecraft Let's Play.
Watching people who are bad at video games is aids for my eyes, brain and ears. All in one package.
man fuck conan bro, hire terry crews to be a twitch streamer
They should make Conan remotes their own series.
I don't have a problem against the idea of the sketch he does itself, a non-gamer investigating games and having fun with it, but I get the feeling from it that it's in mean spirit. Like it comes off to me as "Wow these video games are so stupid, am I right?"
I haven't watched his more recent ones, though, so I could be wrong. It would be neat to see it as an actual show, though, and see him slowly get good at video games.

Conan's stuff has been pretty funny, IMO...

From what I can tell it depends on the game. For example after x minutes of FF15 it became pretty apparent that he was thinking "what is even the point of this."

He seemed a lot more engaged in the BF1 one though, although part of it was probably Terry Crew's contagious hype.

I think some games Conan genuinely enjoys playing and others he has a much harsher opinion on because they're not to his interests.
Which is totally cool. Just means he's a normal dude when it comes to gaming tastes.

I've only watched a few of the episodes, back when they first came out, but I actually got the opposite vibe from it. He seemed quite impressed, generally. But I could be wrong or this could have changed, because the entire premise does reek of being mean spirited.
He won't really be a clueless gamer after a few episodes.

He was really into Tomb Raider. :wow:
as someone who generally loves Conan but usually hated those bits, I'm OK with this
THR also reports that series would a have new host. Not sure if the spinoff would find major appeal without Conan.

I watched his show a lot during the 90s and he's not changed one bit. How is this possible? Is he immune to aging?
If I wanted a show about some fuckwit playing video games poorly I'd just start streaming my own gameplay.

You take that back.

that one was my absolute favorite

it's a self-deprecating joke slick
Clueless Gamer can be hit or miss sometimes, but I think it has a lot of potential. It's kinda refreshing to see games played from the perspective of someone who just has no idea what the fuck is happening. :v:
He should also do another where he just visit countries
Really its amazing when he goes all over the world

"So, we just made one of these crafting table things, now what?"
They should really get more celebrities who actually care and play games rather than the ones who don't.
Plus, never use Youtubers. Ever.
Or if they actually played the games instead of just reacting at the screen and making jump cuts every 3 seconds

His one on the SSB4 beta was legendary.

The segments Conan do are great, but making it a full show would probably drag it out pretty soon.

"Yo we got to make the thumbnail for a video about a WWI game, what should we put in the background?"
"They had helicopters in WWI, right?"
