Oregon voters said yes to marijuana Tuesday, making the state the third to allow the possession and sale of cannabis for recreational rather than strictly medical use.
The crowd at the downtown Portland club Holocene, where Yes on 91 held its victory party, erupted into rowdy cheers upon learning Measure 91 had passed. Someone in the crowd yelled "Legal cannabis, baby," as longtime legalization advocate Anthony Johnson took the stage. He called the vote "decades in the making."
"We won tonight first and foremost because of the wisdom of Oregon voters," Johnson said.
i don't even smoke pot and i'm excited!
Keep Portland Baked
I voted for it, nice to know it actually passed this time
I think there will be massive changes within the coming years for this. It will no doubt be a major issue in 2016, whether they like it or not.

Possibly 46, Alaska's legalization measure is currently at 53.2 yes 46.8 no with 27.9% reporting. Not yet a slam dunk but promising nonetheless
I actually voted against this though I'm all for legalizing pot. They have very very lax limitations on it. It should be at least as regulated as alcohol.
haha why would anyone move to stockton
Yeah because they are equally as bad you might get marjiuana posioning, or beat your wife because your judgement is altered or have your vision incredibly impaired while driving. Oh wait..
Yeah because they are equally as bad you might get marjiuana posioning, or beat your wife because your judgement is altered.
Or crash your car because you're too stoned to react quickly, killing an innocent person. There are more reasons then "B-BUT HE OVERDOSES ON THE WEED NEEDLES" to be against Oregon's limitations.
Yeah because they are equally as bad you might get marjiuana posioning, or beat your wife because your judgement is altered.
You don't need a full pound or however much it was of pot a month. You'd need to be smoking so much you'd be constantly baked out of your mind. With that much there's no way they're going to keep it out of the hands of underage people either. (Which it has been proven to have lasting effects on since their minds are still developing.)

I don't condone driving under any mind altering substance but all my friends drive all the time and they say they are usually more cautious drivers and don't speed. I've smoked a lot of weed and never been NEARLY as impaired as I would be if I took 4 or more shots of vodka. If I ever caught a friend drunk driving on the other hand I would report them to the police or physically stop them.

Alcohol which has no buying restrictions is neurotoxic to the brain and no matter how small the limit is, people are going to get their hands on it. It is much harder for me to get regulated acholol because I'm under 21 but I can literally go next store to my dealer and get an oz.

This fucking dumbass voted for what he thought was right, what the fuck!
This fucking dumbass voted for what he thought was right, what the fuck!
He didn't think it was right based on the lax regulations that were slated to be imposed on it

But because alcohol is regulated it's still pretty difficult for underage people to get their hands on it. You'll never make it impossible but you can at least make it difficult. And the current regulations on the law that just passed in Oregon are so lax that it's not going to make it any more difficult at all. If anything it's actually going to make it easier.

Good I can't wait to live in A Brave New World. I dont think that's going to happen though you claim that more children will have access to it but their is simply not data to support that idea, if in several months they find more children happen to be smoking then I'm sure they'll regulate it more.

I like how you keep sarcastically shitposting rather than providing legitimate arguments.

And that's your personal experience. My personal experience is that for most people it's not easy to get alcohol when they're underage.

You said people will buy pounds of weed and just be like "well fuck what am I going to do with this weed" and sell it to children. You are aware cannabis is roughly 3,000 dollars a pound and rarely are people going to buy more than they can smoke. You have no correlating evidence that shows more weed = more teens smoking. You've actually been providing a fallacious argument from the beginning. You are completely assuming that more marijuana in circulation means more children getting cannabis. You sound like an 80 year old republican, How the fuck can you say I'm making a bogus argument?
And how is sarcastically stating the massive different between marijuana and alcohol shit posting?
I don't condone driving under any mind altering substance but all my friends drive all the time and they say they are usually more cautious drivers and don't speed.
This is so stupid, lol.
"I don't condone driving under any mind-altering substance, but here is a story about my friends doing that and telling me they are usually okay so I guess that implies it's fine or something."
You are aware cannabis is roughly 3,000 dollars a pound and rarely are people going to buy more than they can smoke.
You are aware that these laws make it legal to grow your own pot, right?
You are aware that these laws make it legal to grow your own pot, right?
You're still dodging my question. Where is the evidence that more cannabis equals more teenagers getting it? Why should the government have the right to restrict you from growing a plant? Because teens "might" get their hands on? Rate me dumb all you want but the fact of the matter is that you have no idea if more teens are going to have access to marijuana simply because it's being unregulated.
You're just clinging to the "but what about the children" stigma of drugs in general which is used time and again to make people think irrationally.

I actually can't tell which side you're on in this argument because you keep throwing reasons for and against legalization
I actually can't tell which side you're on in this argument because you keep throwing reasons for and against legalization
I'm for the complete regulation and legalization of all substances in a perfect world. But preferably the decriminalization of all drugs and legalization of marijuana.
