Honestly I have been so sick of star wars shit for a long time, only the old games were good. Battlefront 1 and 2 were amazing because I was a kid when I played them, but now that I analyze them they didn't really do everything they could with that concept.
So why do people care again when Star Wars games have been shit to meh for a long long time?

People see EA and automatically think they're going to run it into the ground and murder the Star Wars franchise, I have slim hopes, but I doubt anything good will come from this.

My main problem is that developers should make their own fucking worlds to put their games in, show some artistic integrity for gods sake. WE NEED MORE OF THAT.
NO MORE GAMES BASED OFF FRANCHISES AND NO MORE SEQUELS.
This really doesnt even matter. Nothing good will come from it no matter which way you look at it: Anything good in a Star Wars game has pretty much been done, Battlefront 3 was canned, and there are just so many Star Wars games. As well as this, it's EA. They'll just release a good 3-5 shitty games that people will probably complain about before they sink into obscurity and hate.
This will affect pretty much no one ever.
Great, now EA has full control over SWTOR, which means more gay planets for $20 or some shit like that.
Though if DICE would make Battlefront 3..

DICE already fucked up a BF3, don't let them fuck up another one.
Come on, let's look at past Star Wars games
Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire, Jedi Outcast and Academy, KotOR, both of them, Tie Fighter/X-Wing, Rogue Squadron, Battlefront
Now let's look at recent ones
TOR, Force Unleashed, Kinect Bullshit, Lego Star Wars
I don't hold much hope, especially with EA at the helm. Maybe if they give Bioware full reign on a new KotOR, with multiplayer kind of like Mass Effect 3. If it's one thing Bioware can do, it's single player games. As long as it's not a sequel

That's because you're only remembering the good older games. Back in the late 90's/early 2000s, they basically rushed out a Star Wars game for every possible genre and hoped for the best.
For every Jedi Outcast there was a Yoda's Stories, or a Force Commander, or an Obi-Wan's Adventures.
And don't even get me started on this shit:

As disappointing as TOR was, It was still probably an improvement over Galaxies.
Plus the 3 studios they've announced who will be making the games have a pretty good track record. BF3 was kind of a let-down, but everything else DICE has made has been fantastic. Bio-Ware makes great single-player games as you mentioned, and Visceral has a pretty decent record too, although they haven't done much aside from Dead Space.
Ea actually had good games such as battlefield 3, aaand i cant name anything else atm but alot of fps games. Can we stop the bandwagoning? I'm sure they'll do some good stuff with it.
How do I read "Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun-Duh-Duh"?

Battlefield 3 is horrible. Unbalanced maps, badly overall designed game, over-hyped generic military shooter.

Then what's a good FPS game, then? Because with that logic pretty much every FPS game ever is a dumb generic military shooter.

It's not that they didn't do everything they could, I think its more technological limitations at the time meant that they COULDN'T do everything that they would have wanted to do. That's why a Battlefront 3 would have been so good. The stuff that wouldn't have been able to be implemented now WOULD be able to be implemented. But I somehow doubt any of that will happen now.
Oh cool we're gonna have Star Wars Battlebluefrontfilterfield [del]3[/del] 1 powered by Frostbite™

this joke is so funny haha lol
blue tint!!!! get it? because battlefield 3 has a blue tint?

Come on, no Dark Forces 2 in that list?
oohh shit imagine jedi academy, but on frostbite with cool graphics and shit
Brace yourselves for EA's DRM and exclusive Origin releace with any new Star Wars titles from them.

Have you ever played anything that is not CoD/Battlefield? (or clones i.e homefront) Not all military shooters are generic and dumb, but this is one of the cases. I can list a bunch of FPS games that ain't the case, lets begin:
Blood, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem 3D, Descent, Half-Life, Team Fortress Series, Doom, Quake Series, Rise of the Triad, FarCry Series (excluding 2, it wasnt that great), Unreal Tournament, Bulletstorm, Star Wars (battlefront and darkforces 2), L4D1 and 2, HeXen, Heretic, Strife, Bioshock... Well, I could go on and on about games that are not bland dumb generic military shooters, but you get my point.
Also, you have examples of military games that are great, to name a few: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Insurgency, Arma II...

lens flare that J.J Abrams would be proud of amirite guys?
I am confident that Star Wars would far better in EA's hands than it would in Disney's. Disney is the one that canceled all the in-progress games and has a hard-on for making all of their stuff kid-friendly, right?
I wouldn't mind if this didn't probably mean no mod support and Origin exclusivity.
Brace yourselves for EA's DRM and exclusive Origin releace with any new Star Wars titles from them.
kinda like how a lot of games are only on valve's DRM?
out of all of the things you could complain about, origin is the least of your problems
People see EA and automatically think they're going to run it into the ground and murder the Star Wars franchise, I have slim hopes, but I doubt anything good will come from this.
they might make some decent games, but they won't make anything interesting
a triple A title using a film license? that's basically shorthand for there being no surprises and being exactly what the average consumer expects

interesting FPS games are much rarer nowadays, particularly in the ultra-popular triple a space, nothing to do with consoles but the low risk bullshit that comes with trying to make a decent profit with soaring dev/marketing costs

Why take risks when you know the other stuff will make money even after you slap incremental numbers on it? Sure, we get something new, but from business perspective, its all about what makes money. Kids love those brown and bloom shooters? Make more. Its what it was like in the early 2000's with the billion WWII shooters and samey crap. But it made good munny.
