• Paintball: "Becuase we don't have a subforum!"

Hey Facepunch! This is the thread dedicated for all things paintball. Be it speedball, woodsball or anything in-between, post here! General rules: 1: No flaming of any-sort. This includes bashing airsoft/bashing paintball. 2: Avoid trading or buying in this thread. Feel free to use PM's, but use at your own discretion. 3: Try to stay on-topic So, I'll kick things off: I've been playing for about a year now. My current set up is a 2005 Spyder Xtra, 20 oz CO2 tank, VL200 hopper, Flecktarn top+bottom, some gloves and a GOG mask.
Needs more detail: Pictures, Videos, Tournament info etc. I personally use a Dye I4 white & gold mask, and have some Enola Gaye gloves. I don't go often so I don't have my own gun. Love the mask though.
From Athens, Georgia. Played all over the south. Main setup right now is my woodland SM1 or my X7. I do have a few other markers I use for fun though. Here's a few pics! Because you don't need a subforum.
Because you don't need a subforum.
Airsoft has a subforum though, why not paintball? After all, they are pretty similar games, right? I play paintball but not as much as I'd like to, there aren't too many places near me to play. Wish I lived near a place where I could play woodsball, playing on paintball fields gets a bit boring.
How about "Airsoft & Paintball" And we can maybe even have annoying as fuck tags like "[AIRSOFT] or [PAINTBALL]"
How about "Airsoft & Paintball" And we can maybe even have annoying as fuck tags like "[AIRSOFT] or [PAINTBALL]"
Both are completely different (other than woodsball/recball.) I'd say just have another subforum...
Paintball sucks imo. Airsoft is more enjoyable.
My brother(23) wants to start a professional paintball team. He has military training, so he might actually be capable of it.
Don't really need mil training for a pro-paintball team, remember, pro paintball is more of speedball tournament and those are just requiring good teamwork, and tons of training. Usually having a shop to back you out helps a lot to enter the pro rank. The pro team we have at the shop trains at least once a week.

Having a shop back you is a huge help, because they can help you get sponsorships and such. Without one, paint can get VERY expensive. Been there, done that.
Exactly, I doubt the pro team we have under our wing would go much without the shop backing them. I mean, for example, we sell a box of 2000 balls for 49,99$ or 59.99$ for customers, and the team members gets them for about 28 or 33$. Just an example to show.
I work at a paintball place. Here's my set-up: (I don't have the prophecy anymore, traded it for a rotor)

Speedball is what a normally play. [editline]23rd April 2012[/editline] Also, you don't automatically decide to be pro. You start at D4 (but doing local tournies does not hurt) and grind your way to D1 then pro. Takes years

Took a friend of mine to his first paintball game for his farewell party. He is now in the 3rd best under-18 team in the region. I play paintball occasionally, the speedball arena/field here charges about $15 for a 200 ball game including rental and all that. Never actually planned to get me a marker for myself though, I guess a tippman 98 rental will do for now.

It was one of the few sub forums that was able to be saved when Garry decided to take away all the sub forums (a decision which was later revoked) because of how active it was. An IFAP (International Facepunch Airsoft Players) Team is going to one of the biggest Airsoft games in the North East in July now. I don't have anything against a Paintball sub forum but we've had them several times in the past and in all instances they're usually inactive and end up getting deleted anyway.
Paintball sucks imo. Airsoft is more enjoyable.
stop this shit
Paintball sucks imo. Airsoft is more enjoyable.
Paintball is fun for a get-together with friends at the local indoor paintball field, but airsoft is so much more fun for battles anywhere else. I'd rather battle with an actual looking gun, than one of those ugly paintball guns with big hoppers and gas tanks.
I'd really like to get into paintball, hope I can find some sites near me :D
No matter what, this will fall into a pit of flaming. After hanging around the IFAP section for a year, you quickly learn in general that there is some unexplainable bad blood between airsofters and paintballers.
Maybe just renaming the airsoft subforum the milsim games forum? Well, i learned that airsofters hate paintballers during my very first game where the instructer made a bunch of jokes about them.
guys let's keep airsoft out of it. completely different sports for different tastes. Also, while we don't have a subforum, I made a megathread a while back http://facepunch.com/threads/1129233?highlight=
From my experience at work, paintballers hates airsofters and airsofters hates paintballers. Both equally. Some likes both, some don't mind either one, on both groups. In my opinion you shouldn't even compare the both, nor link them in the same subforum. While they may look similar, they aren't the same kind of thing. Woodsball may look like mil-sim, but it's not really, and speedball, well it's speedball. Airsoft is milsim or skirmishes using milsim-like features. So they're both they're own genre, even if woods or rec seems share similarities with airsoft. Do us shops and gentlemen a pleasure, keep your hate for yourself and stop comparing the both (To those doing it.)
There's actually a paintball place at the local mall about 2-3 miles away from my home. Never actually took the chance to play though. To paintball players: how is it? Does it hurt when you get hit? I should try to get my friends to play just for a day sometime..
I don't understand the stupidity between the two. I do both and honestly they're both fun, the hatred is just a bunch of retarded bigotry that only serves to make the one dishing it out look like a complete fucking moron.

Literally there are two options: Keep it in a Paintball Megathread. Make a new Subforum. Merger with the two sports would cause a huge amount of drama and bitchery that no one wants. The IFAP community is pretty settled into their sub forum, the Paintballers would be seen as unwanted guests even if they got along. I personally know almost every IFAP member by their real name and I've seen a dozen of them in person.

Personally I find paintball to be pretty much pain-free even with the marks it leaves, it's more of a get-to-you feeling, like a surprise. Same goes for airsoft.
I personally know almost everyone IFAP member by their real name and I've seen a dozen of them in person.
So since it's been a while since I went there, again, how are the guys doing?

The ArmA group is still going hardcore. The usual shit other than that, tapeo is forever alone, deathmog is short etc. etc.
