Is there an XP-like status bar to Windows 7 bootup?

I absolutely hate the Windows 7 pulsing flag loading screen. The pulsing flag is sometimes too subtle to indicate everything is loading properly. Sometimes the boot takes longer than normal and I cannot tell if the flag is pulsing or not, so at times I think the computer freezes at startup.
I was wondering if there are any themes that add an XP like scrolling status bar to the startup screen.
Maybe something like bootskin by stardock. You can download bootscreens to be used with that program, and I think there is a XP like bootscreen for that
Best way to do it: Do Startup Repair, it resets the boot screen to a vista one
Alternatively, install GRUB
Flag gives me a boner, how can you hate it?
run > msconfig > boot tab> no gui boot

Not if there's nothing wrong.

That'll make it black.
The way to reenable the old Vista bootscreen is to run the following in an elevated command prompt:
bcdedit /deletevalue {current} locale
Does the flag really stop pulsing if something stalls? I assumed it just loaded an animation and played it regardless of what's happening behind the scenes.

well wouldn't it be like when the progress bar froze in older versions of windows, indicating that your computer froze?

Since FP decided to delete my post here it is again:
Open MSConfig and under the boot tab and check OS boot information. I'm not entirely sure but I think that's the old SOS boot.

Yes, verbose mode is great for troubleshooting.
It only pulses once or twice for me so It does not stay on long enough for me to notice.

thanks
I just leave my main screen off until I can see the mouse on my second screen.
I'm too terrified of the possibility of a BSOD :ohdear:
Lol do you seriously look at it that long for it to annoy you? It's time to investigate a Solid State disk.
Wouldn't this make it boot faster?
No. Either way it still has to init the GPU driver which still takes as much as it did before. However it will seem like it's booting faster.
Ah, well do you know of anything I could do to boot faster? Other than turning off useless startup services and programs.
SSD/Faster HDD.

SSD's are always good
Upgrade
Run less crap at start up
There's the only options I can think of.
