Do they really ban for that kind of exploiting? Seems fairly harmless, it took the guy 8 hours for christ's sake. Maybe this a bigger deal than I understand, I never played WoW.

If they ban this guy I'll honestly never give Blizzard any money ever again because that's really just dumb on their part. The guy abused an exploit in the act of wasting 8 hours in their game doing something a group of players does in far less. If they ban him they're fucking retarded as all hell honestly. Bans should be for people who are actually doing something that can be considered harming the game, not this guy.

Probably not, he wasn't using this for progression so blizz will probably just fix the exploit and move on
Its more the context than the actual exploit. If a guild uses an exploit to progress a raid boss on purpose thats bannable, if a guy demonstrates an exploit for proof of concept they usually just fix it
The fact that this took 8 hours and the guy himself was overgeared for it means that blizz probably will have a laugh and quietly fix it
