So at the moment I'm still running a stock fan from Novatech on my computer, it's useless. I was wondering what's a good fan out there and on websites how do I know how quiet and how fast it is?
Also I want to re-clean my computer. I haven't done it in ages and it's probably got a clusterfuck of shit in there. I've got a static mat and I've heard if I want to do it I lay it on the mat, plug the computer on but not have it turned out, the only thing is I don't have a static wrist strap :( If I'm not using a static wrist strap is there anything I should really avoid going near cleaning?
To answer the bottom question, I just lay my computer on its side and take a vacuum hose and go around the whole inside of the case.
Use an air compressor or leaf blower to send short blasts of air into the case and areas you want to clean.
I would discourage using an vacuum, I've heard some horror stories about static and pulling components off of boards.
I personally use compressed air in one hand and a vacuum in the other to reduce the dust in the air.
On the topic of fans... Do you have a target sound? target CFM? Budget?
I want it to be quiet. I'm so sick of a fucking lawnmower of a fan. Also not really fussed about budget. Something which is a decent price. The fan for the main and for the CPU is what I'm looking for :)
If budget isn't an issue... Noctua has the quietest fans on the market... However they usually run at 20-30 dollars a pop. I'm loading my new build with the P14, an 140mm fan that fits in an 120mm slot.
Cut a big-ass hole in the side and stick one of these bad-boys in it. :v:
