Except even the guys who made Angry Birds aren't the first guys to come up with the idea of a physics puzzler wherein you fling shit at other shit.

It's very organic IMO. Of course it's better on PC since you don't get the slight offset from letting your finger off of the screen, but it's an excellent example of touch controls nonetheless.

If you take a look at games like the original Crush the Castle, they really weren't of very high quality.
The things that become super popular kind of boggle my mind. Sure, Angry Birds is a'ight, but so are a good bunch of lesser-known games. What made Angry Birds this super sensation? It's a decent time waster, I just don't understand what set it apart from the other thousands of games like it.

The iPhone/iTouch is what made it popular, it was one of the first big App Store hits. Plus it's $0.99.
i actually dont think its popularity can be explained
I never understood why people sold and even bought angry birds merchandise. There's really nothing interesting about it that should have a cult following.
I think at this point it's one of those things that is popular because it's popular.
I mean, obviously I want to be the one raking in shittonnes of money instead of that guy
Miyamoto actually doesn't care much for money. They wanted to give him a really high salary considering all he's done but he insists on having a normal one.
