(3:05) Some reviews of "As A Metal Of Fact"
When you'll listen to "As A Metal Of Fact" for the first time, I'm sure that a name will come to your mind, the mighty Black Sabbath! That's right, a bit like Astral Doors lately, Cavalar is doing a come back in past to release an album that smells good the Heavy Metal of the 70's. This is just Rock'n'Roll my friends, yeah Rock'n'Roll! Evidently Cavalar isn't inventing anything with their first release. But it wasn't their goal, I mean that our guys just wanted to play classic Heavy Metal and on a way, it's refreshing especially when you know that nowadays 90% of the new releases are Power Metal, Gothenburg Death or Symphonic stuff. So if you like Black Sabbath, Dio or even some Stoner Metal bands, maybe that you should try to get some information about Cavalar. "As A Metal Of Fact" is a good album and really all the songs sound good. The good thing is that even if they play an "old" music it sounds however modern. Plus, the songs are a bit punchier than with a band like Black Sabbath, it's a lot more "in your face" if you see what I mean. So we have rhythm, we have cool choruses and great riffs and soli so what about the singer? Well Twitch is an extremely good singer who know how to sing with a perfect hoarse voice that will remind you a lot of bands from the 70's. It's extremely classy especially when it's well done, and it's the case for Cavalar. No doubt, this is a bunch of good musicians. Musically speaking, there is nothing new on "As A Metal Of Fact" but it's really well done and plus, the recording is really good and the CD looks extremely professional. It' s probably an album for the aficionados of the genre but if you like Rock, I'm sure that you'll love this album. Our guys released a really promising album that proves that this side of Metal is not dead yet. Classic old school Hard Rock, Heavy and Stoner Metal fans, this is a must for you!

As a Metal of Fact is the debut album from Brazil's Cavalar, a four-piece hard rock/metal band who push all the right buttons when it comes to 70's and 80's inspired heavy music. Yes, the band is heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, so let's get that out in front first. Many of the songs here could have easily come from Masters of Reality or Volume 4 era Sabbath, from the riffs, to the vocals, to the pounding rhythms. However, Cavalar inject a modern doom feel into the songs by having each track come across as highly focused and never meandering, complete with plenty of shred guitar solos for good measure. Lead singer Twitch sounds very much like a young Ozzy, but he also can hit some Ian Gillan inspired screams, like he does so well on the crankin' rock of "Us", a song that also features a killer guitar riff. In fact, speaking of riffs, there's no shortage of kick ass, memorable riffs here, especially on songs like "Rush", "Deadman", "New Empire", the sizzling "V-Red", and the grinding 'Can the World Be Wrong", all courtesy of Tadeu Dias, a very talented guitar player who will easily appeal to fans of Zakk Wylde and Tony Iommi. So, classic Sabbath fans, rejoice at the wonderful sounds of As a Metal of Fact, an album that is as good as recent releases from peers like Down, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, and Witchcraft. Oh yeah, there's also a killer version of Sabbath's "Hole In the Sky" here as well. Check it out.
