A top Navy supply officer has been fired for an episode involving public drunkenness and nudity at a conference with defense contractors earlier this year, according to published reports.
Navy Times reported Tuesday that Rear Admiral David Baucom had been removed from his job as director of Strategy, Policy, Capabilities, and Logistics at U.S. Transportation Command this past October. The news site reported that Baucom's firing stemmed from an incident during an April conference in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Admirals really should know better. They are a damn O-8 for gods sake, the equivalent to a Major General. Some shit is stranger than fiction.

Wow are you in the army?

Not the first time something like this has happened.

I remember hearing about this guy a couple of months ago, apparently he was a massive alcoholic with a habit of annoying everyone around him. Not exactly what I'd call a commanding presence.

Being a dumbass isn't exclusive to the Navy though

I thought Admiral was specific to the Navy?

It is, I think he was refering to the fact that he knew the equivelant to an Admiral in the Army
I can understand why he's fired and while I'm not saying I disagree with the decision (someone of such high stature has to be held to strict standards, which he violated; also the issue of his subordinates no longer seeing him in a respectful light) it's sad to see such a decorated career ended like this. 34 years, brought to an end in one night of failure

He wasn't discharged just removed from his position.
Its not uncommon to move people around or even promote them when they cause problems since its the easiest fix to whatever problem they're causing.

well thats sort of good, it would be a waste of taxpayer money to fire him for this, but the navy is no stranger to doing that anyways, like back when Don't ask was policy they discharged a bunch of fighter pilots, which had millions invested in them, and were trusted with hundred million dollar planes, simply because they were gay

Ah, well that's better then. I missed the bit where it said "removed from his job as director" and figured fired meant discharged. I'd hope that even if he was getting kicked out, he'd be given the opportunity to retire anyway.
What shall we do with a drunken sailor?

I'm pretty sure the Army's got a majority market share on it though. :v:

Only need a 31 on the ASVAB to get in. That and not be absolutely stupid like putting a tatoo on your face.
