• How to get started as a DJ?

I am interested in become a Disk Jockey, for those who don't know what the acronym actually means. Maybe throw some help my way?
If you wish to DJ as in perform live, it's pretty simple. You just need to get some decent gear, a pretty decent program (none of that free shit), like Traktor or something, and you need to learn how to beatmatch, learn ways to keep a crowd going with your set. You should perhaps look into what people want, depending on where you'd be playing live, if it's a generic bar kind of thing, you're looking for semi-popular shit that the people in there could familiarise themselves with. If you're playing somewhere where the people are into EDM, it's best to play the newest things, perhaps help promote artists. If you wish to produce, and you've falsely used the term "DJ", which isn't a problem, alot of people have the misconception that DJ universally means anything to do with electronic music, you will need to find your self a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and start learning how to use it. Most starters of producing use FL studio, an easy-to-use DAW that's really user friendly, it got me started, and it resulted in me (although I moved to another DAW) getting signed by a record label. If you need some places to find production help/resources, youtube is your best bet, perhaps look at users like "KevWillow", or something, he taught me most of the basics of FL, leading me to go to Ableton Live (which is better in my opinion).
I would probably start as a shoutcast DJ
get some decks, practice, make some mixes, send them to local clubs. its as simple as that
