I've just got my E.ON energy monitor through the post. These are free to anyone who lives in the UK, uses E.ON for their electricity, and manages their account online. Link: http://www.eonenergy.com/At-Home/Products/Products-Electricity-And-Gas/Energy+Fit/Energy+Fit.htm?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=energy+monitor&utm_campaign=ppc&mvid=p139727841&gclid=CJXljcrosKICFd1r4wodyn6bSA Inside the pack you get a monitor, a reciever: And a clip, which plugs into the reciever and clips onto a cable coming from your electricity meter (mine's outside, but there's a cable running from it into the house, which is what it's clipped on) This is the monitor: It tells you how much it is costing per day, and per month. At the moment it's saying it's costing £11 a month, but that's just with general things running (fridge, home phone, WiFi, etc) But if I turn on the computer, look what happens: It almost doubles in price! but this is a live reading, so that wouldn't be the final price unless I had the computer on 24/7, but this price is with just the computer on and the general things running, it doesn't include the TV, Xbox, etc. It also comes with a USB cable and some software, so you can plug it into your computer and create graphs to compare months, and estimate next months bill. Pretty interesting, and if you can get one I recommend it
Wow I keep my computer on 24/7, maybe I can lower price by actually turning it off once in a while

We have one of those things connected to our solar panels.
Part of me wants to go around and switch everything off and see how cheap it gets
FYI if you're not on eon - Maplin sell energy monitors for about £50 (see efergy and Wattson - not sure about wattson, but I've seen something like it), I've been thinking about it for a while
I took a screenshot of the software that comes with it: I've only had it since last night, so that's why it starts at 8pm. I have no idea why it goes up at 4am though..
If only I lived in the UK.
Damn i want one of those. Live in holland though

Usually satellite boxes turn on at 4am to check for updates maybe it's that?
