• US reaps what it sows: Parts of United States are heating faster than globe as a whole
Global warming obviously refers to temperature increases across the entire globe. We know the Earth is warming, we know it is human-caused, we have a pretty good idea about how much the warming will be in the future and what some of the consequences are. In fact, when it comes to the Earth’s average climate, scientists have a pretty good understanding. On the other hand, no one lives in the average climate. We live spread out north, west, east, and south. On islands, large continents, inland or in coastal regions. Many of us want to know what’s going to happen to the climate where we live. How will my life be affected in the future? This type of question is answered in a very recent study published by scientists from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The team, which includes Dr. Raymond Bradley and researcher Dr. Ambarish Karmalkar looked specifically at the Northeastern United States. They found that this area will warm much more rapidly than the globe as a whole. In fact, it will warm faster than any other United States region. The authors expect the Northeast US will warm 50% faster than the planet as a whole. They also find that the United States will reach a 2 degree Celsius warming 10–20 years before the globe as a whole.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2017/jan/17/parts-of-united-states-are-heating-faster-than-globe-as-a-whole
USA number one again, is the rest of the world even trying?
Ahh, yes, blame it all on us and completely ignore the other 190-odd countries that are spewing stuff out. GG.
Ahh, yes, blame it all on us and completely ignore the other 190-odd countries that are spewing stuff out. GG.
The US produces 45% roughly of the world's CO2 emissions. Yeah, other countries are doing it but we're the cause of almost half of the global pollution.
I mean you did just elect a climate change denier.
He changed his mind atleast.
But the president-elect also met last week with former Vice President Al Gore and actor-activist Leonardo DiCaprio, men for whom climate change is a pet issue. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, is expected to play an outsize, first lady-type role in the Manhattan billionaire’s administration, and a source close to her told POLITICO that she wants to make climate change one of her signature issues. Asked for a definitive answer on where he stands on the environment, Trump told “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace that the science of climate change remains an open question as far as he is concerned. As president, Trump said he will work to make sure that worries about the environment do not put American businesses at a disadvantage. “I'm very open-minded. I'm still open-minded. Nobody really knows. Look, I'm somebody that gets it, and nobody really knows. It's not something that's so hard and fast,” Trump said. “I do know this: Other countries are eating our lunch.”
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/donald-trump-environment-climate-change-232480 I know, you are going to through a gasket either way and I understand why.
On the bright side at least if it happens sooner those responsible for causing this won't get to get away with dying of old age before it gets real bad and avoid criminal charges
He changed his mind atleast. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/donald-trump-environment-climate-change-232480
at least Ivanka Trump seems concerned about this, hopefully she can do some behind the scenes work or at least try convincing her father.
He changed his mind atleast. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/donald-trump-environment-climate-change-232480
That's nice. Too bad all his cabinet picks didn't change their minds.

GG.
Yes, China does produce double of what the US does in total, but per capita it only produces half of what the US does, and is actively taking steps to reduce this in whatever ways it can, while the US seems like it's going to be doing the opposite in the next 4 years. The European Union (which, for the sake of scale we'll be counting as a single entity) has a larger population by a little less than 200 million people, yet it produces less than half of what America does per capita, and noticeably less than China. The US is, at this rate, the biggest contributor to the problem, and it'll only get worse and worse if it continues this anti-intellectual, environmentally unaware movement it seems to be going through

I'm still open-minded. Nobody really knows. Look, I'm somebody that gets it, and nobody really knows. " equals to changing mind completely and definitely but at least it's not "Chinese hoax" so hooray, I guess? "I do know this: Other countries are eating our lunch." :what:

A lot of people know. Most scientists know. He is flat out wrong. It's better than saying it's a Chinese hoax, but he is still in denial about it. Let's get him over that hump.
I sure as hell feel it in Maryland. It seems like every year now it takes longer and longer to get any sort of significant snow fall. I remember growing up and having snow all over before and during Christmas but it hasn't happened in a long time now it feels like.

Even with a string of presidents who have been acknowledging anthropogenic climate change, progress has been slow. Trump is gonna be even worse at a point where it's getting critical. I'm not even convinced he changed his mind, and no matter what, changing between two unacceptable stances is nothing to applaud. If he comes out and acknowledges the science publicly, I'll call it progress.

Our winter's have been getting consistently more extreme, with each year either being a really warm winters, really really fucking cold winters, or completely variable winters that go from freezing cold one week to a nice 40 degrees Fahrenheit the next week, like this one has been so far. It's been several years since we've had a normal winter with a steady decline and increase of temperature, and a normal amount of snowfall...

His actions ie getting lists of people he hates like political correctness officials & climate change scientists, filling up his cabinet with slimy, oily slick people before his inauguration are not in line with "going against climate change"
I know, you are going to through a gasket either way and I understand why.
If you know posting something is going to derail the thread and cause controversy, then you're just purposely trolling.
Although this probably isn't related, go back like 5 years ago where I live in the north east we use to get at least a couple of feet of snow a year. These last 3 years we have gotten next to none, haven't had accumulations that have actually stayed on the ground for more than a few days. I can't help but think it is related.
If you know posting something is going to derail the thread and cause controversy, then you're just purposely trolling.
Trump is infallible. Any attempt to convince the population that his cabinet picks, or his advisers; the people with more experience in governing (whether that means anything is up to you) will do anything to reduce, or maintain the status quo of emissions is living in a fucking fantasy. These people will not stop at anything to block any and all criticisms of the person they voted. But remember, at least their birth certificate is "real" for the next 8 years ;)
Today, on January 17 it's 58 degrees where I live on the northern east coast. Last week it was 63 degrees. In January. This week's upcoming forecast is all hovering around upper forties and lower fifties. When I was much younger from December on towards March the weather never warmed above like 35 degrees. It feels more like Spring than it does Winter.
Haha yeah, but that one politician brought a snowball into the Senate, checkmate Global Warming believers.

I remember 2 years ago in November I had to wear a ski mask walking thru the city because it was so damn windy and cold. Havent had that yet.
(snip)
He changed his mind atleast.
too bad his policies and goals don't reflect this
He changed his mind atleast.
Wrong.
I mean you did just elect a climate change denier.
The majority of voters didn't.

Its ridiculous, in Missouri its averaging in the 50's and i can have my window open pretty much every day.
