It was a day to celebrate families but one little boy took it a bit further and managed to steal the show when he got on stage with the Pope. The Pontiff was addressing a crowd of families at the Vatican when the youngster wandered on stage.
Identified only as the 'boy in yellow' the lad stared at Pope Francis as he spoke to the crowds in St Peter's Square, CBS News reports.

I saw this on the news this morning. It's amazing how well Francis handled that. It's like he actually likes people!

Unlike some of the other popes.
Pope Sidious would probably have had him escorted away by security.

The other popes were really regal, prideful... They focused more on their job than the people they were doing it for.
Glad someone's finally come along to straighten that out.

He's also less creepy with children than Benedict was :v:
Pope Francis seems like he would be a badass grandfather.
It seems so surreal watching this little child wander around in the middle of such a large and serious event, going seemingly mostly unnoticed.

Because he probably isn't a career pope, I think he genuinely believes in what he is doing.

Its because the kid just redirected his force lightning back at him in that picture so it messed his face up and revealed his true face. Then a cardinal came in and threw the baby out the window.

Security are doing a terrible job at protecting the Pope. What if that child was a deadly suicide assassin?!

Pope Francis doesn't care for his security or safety.
francis is a jesuit right? i mean i strongly dislike the pope, i strongly dislike the catholic church as an organization, etc., but at least jesuits seem to actually have an interest in living a "christian" life, as jesus did. also apparently jesuits and the black pope are connected with the illuminati to take over the world according to one of my conspiracy theorist activist acquaintances, but i can overlook that if they are not total assholes to small children.

Francis is actually a good pope in my eyes, even though i'm not catholic, some of the things he's done already show that he's a good man.
My opinion of the Catholic Church has increased greatly with Francis at the helm. He is sincere, and knows what is really important compared to what the other pope was preaching.

a good pope imo is still a bad person. i don't hate every pope on a personal level, i hate the pope as an idea and office.
i don't hate mr. francis, i hate his funny hat, to put it simply.
I hate the Vatican but I really love Francis.
Considering the way the Church's pope selection process works, I wonder if Francis wasn't an attempt to save face or redefine the Church's aging principles.
Think about it for a second, everybody likes Francis, and Francis likes everybody. He's a genuinely good guy, who wasn't even trying to become a pope. They literally pulled him out of South America, where he was a bishop (Not a cardinal. This is important.), and plonked him onto the Holy See.
And what happened? He threw out the Holy See, the Mitre, the Scepter, and the robes... And really changed the entire concept of the pope on a fundamental level, all the while making the Church more approachable, friendly, and human.
Pope Francis is a G. I bet he only molested one kid when he was a priest.

what do you mean he threw out the holy see? is the holy see not a thing anymore?
what do you mean he threw out the holy see? is the holy see not a thing anymore?
No, it's just that Francis literally does not sit on the Holy See. He had it moved, replaced with a comfy, casual thing.
EDIT: For reference. The one on the left is the Holy See. The one on the right is Francis's chair.

EDIT: For further clarification, the Holy See is both the governing body of the Catholic Church, and the Papal Throne is the physical manifestation of that abstract organization. Calling both the Holy See is accurate.

yea i know about that that's why i was sorta confused when you said the holy see because i generally think of the holy see as the political entity rather than the chair.
In his speech, the 76-year-old Pope said people should say 'thank you' more often
Lol nice speech
Lol nice speech
Well, they should... Anyone who works in the service industry could tell you that.

From what I heard the time, Pope Francis was selected because he wasn't part of all the politics and factions surrounding the Vatican - essentially voting him stopped a rival faction's candidate getting. As to whether they expected him to act like he does, I don't know, but I sure like it.
