• I'm trekking 212 miles accross Scotland for charity, and I need your help.

Gentlemen, I've been a member of Facepunch for over 4 years, and amongst the "sea of piss" I've seen some really inspiring and heart warming examples of charity and human kindness. I'm humbly requesting one more, I need you to sponsor me and help raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. In 20 days time, I (along with a small group of friends) am going on a 212 mile adventure through some of the toughest terrain the UK has to offer. Along the way we'll be facing the infamous Loch Ness Monster, the dreaded killer midge, and the harsh, constantly changing climate of the Scottish Highlands. You can read more details about the trip on my Just Giving page linked below, which has a full itinerary. I've got faith in you Facepunch, and I know what we're capable of. The smallest amount can change lives. If everybody donated £1 I'd raise a colossal amount of money, it's a small sacrifice to pay. Please, help me make a difference. Sláinte http://www.justgiving.com/KieranDuncan EDIT: I've currently received about £142 donations from Facepunch alone, which is fantastic. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the entire trip in my kilt! EDIT: For lots of information and pretty pictures of Scotland you can check out http://www.west-highland-way.co.uk The West Highland Way is the middle section of the trip, a 96 mile walk south through some of the most stunning scenery in the world.# This is our route:
Do you have hiking experience? 212 miles is a long way if you don't.
Do you have hiking experience? 212 miles is a long way if you don't.
Yeah, we're canoeing across the lochs and canals for some of the way too. All the info is on the just giving page. Plus, the point is that it's going to be really hard. 11 days of hard work and endurance are nothing compared to a life affected by cancer. I really want to smash my target of £300 but I can only do it with your help.
You could try tweeting it or posting on reddit but we all know what the servers are like when reddit get involved.
I'll donate, is like 20 pounds enough :( All I can spare atm
My ski teacher in Zermatt cycled for the meningitis trust. 1000 miles. I was so humbled when I found out. Good luck man, 212 miles is a looong way.
I'll donate, is like 20 pounds enough :( All I can spare atm
Mate... that would be fucking incredible! One of my lecturers just donated £50 which is epic :D
Can we donate through the website if we live somewhere that doesn't use pounds?
I'll donate some words of advice; don't have a heart attack.
I assume you'd be able to, but I don't actually know for sure. Only one way to find out I guess :) [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] Somebody called Gleb donated £15, if it was any of you guys... thank you so much.
Somebody just anonymously donated £15, if it was any of you guys... thank you so much.
That would in fact be me! You're very welcome. =D Sounds like it'll be quite a trip
I wanna go to Scotland. :sigh: Is it anything like Braveheart?
I wanna go to Scotland. :sigh: Is it anything like Braveheart?
Well, there used to be a statue of Mel Gibson as William Wallace (rather than William Wallace as himself) at the Wallace monument, so I guess so.
I wanna go to Scotland. :sigh: Is it anything like Braveheart?
Braveheart was shot mainly in Ireland but they're pretty similar. If you mean the people... then yes, we're exactly like braveheart. We all carry broadswords and shit... cleave ye in twain if you get on our nerves.
Donated, good luck and come back safe with loads of great landscape photos!
I was just wondering if there's as much rape and pillaging.

Make sure you bring your iPod
Bonus photo: [img_thumb]http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/357/braveheartfreedom1.jpg[/img_thumb]
I still fucking love this picture... it's all taken away now though. To be honest I always hated that statue, not because it's of william wallace... but it's more about the film than our history.
I'd donate some money but I don't have any, so have some encouraging words instead. You can do it! Let nothing keep you down! Go you!
http://www.west-highland-way.co.uk/gallerydisplay.asp?id=32 Added that website to the OP, for those interested it'll give you lots of neat info and pictures on Scotland. I'm getting pretty pumped after looking at all the scenery photographs, cant wait to get lots of shots.
