I'm looking for some help with my recent art project. I'm attempting to learn to draw dwarves. I'd like to be able to make some better-than-complete-shit comics based on Dwarf Fortress.
For this I need to be able to draw dwarves. Which I currently can not, I've spent time training myself human anatomy and it's hard to switch. So I need some help from those who know more than I do, how to draw a dwarf.
tl;dr Critique this:

His posture seems very unnatural and static. Not sure exactly how to describe what I mean, but his entire body is basically a rectangle, making it really uninteresting to look at. I recommend trying to make his pose more natural, less static.

Yeah, I know what you mean with this. Trying to get the anatomy right I kept him unnatural straight, it helped with moving and stretching bits till I got them somewhere I sorta liked, but i agree it really is very stiff.
I'll be trying a few basic active poses once I get an idea of how i'm doing so far though : D Hopefully those look less awkward.
he looks like he's being yelled at by his drill sergeant.

That's how you draw a Dwarf. :v:
tbh I always picture dwarfs as manly as fuck, and these eyes don't look very manly

though maybe it's just that weird expression on his face that's adding to this feeling
