The idea being to squeeze out every last dollar before they release GTA 5 on PC, right?
It makes sense, I doubt they'll have many sales once the newer title releases.

You'd be missing out on a great game.
Just download some dll file to remove GFWL, and you're good to go. The modding community is also huge, this game is well worth its price.
Multiplayer is still going to die with GFWL, but it wasn't anything spectacular anyway.
