Tim Cook: Highest Android switch that we’ve ever measured
Speaking on Apple’s fiscal third quarter earnings call on Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple has seen the highest switching rate from Android that it has ever measured. In other words, Cook claims that more people are moving from Android smartphones to the iPhone than ever before.
Apple said its iPhone unit growth in China increased by 87 percent, which might have been one of the big markets for Android switchers, where Android is particularly popular.
What about Apple to android?
How do they even measure this? The fact that it says he "claimed" this switch rate makes me doubt it's veracity.

With iOS, you can bring your data from Android over. My guess is a small log is sent to Apple with each transfer.
I'm totally guilty of this. I switched from my HTC One, of all phones, to the 6 plus, and I haven't looked back. I don't even like Apple as a company - but this thing is the bee's fuckin' knees dude.
Not surprising. I have had tons and tons of problem from Android (mostly because Google likes to fuck around with your phone with stupid updates and shit even when you tell it not too) and quite frankly I'd kill for an iPhone.
I really regret getting an iphone
The lack of freedom and itunes is pissing me off
Well cheap android phones are shit. You get a crawling system and/or no updates. Considering this and the amount of cheap android phones creates a bad impression in costumers who know nothing, then these costumers change to a different platform because they heard it's "better".
I've been on android since my first phone
I switched to 6 plus because
I went through galaxy s, s2, and s4 and i got tired of all the unstable bullshit
Sure I miss that there's more freedom for certain options but iPhone just makes things more simplified
I would switch to any company any day if someone just started making phones with actual fucking buttons again. I hate touch screens, and has the following functionality: calling and texting.

Well why not buy one of the myriad used phones that still work perfectly fine and do exactly that?
One thing I must say, iPhone has a good camera
I wish android could catch up, because the features suck.
I'd imagine iphones are easier for the government to control/exploit. Don't they use certain apps to go around internet censorship and whatnot?

The Move to iOS app isn't out on the Play Store yet. It probably will be when iOS 9 is out though.
To be fair you buy Android if you want to have the freedom to customize and do whatever with, or you have a tight budget.
iPhone is more so if you just want something that works -almost- flawlessly out of the box, streamedlined and very easy to use, albeit a lack of customization.
I used to have an iphone before I switched to android. Honestly never had any problems with it and all in all I'm quite equally satisfied with both OSs so far.

Cheap phones can be good, just look at the Moto E (2015 in my case), Motorola seems to update the device quite often, not too long update they brought out an update that improved the start-up time and I should be getting 5.1 in the not so near future. My last HTC phone was the complete opposite, every update it began to run worse.
I'm almost willing to bet money that a good chunk of switchers did so because they're sick of having to guess if and when they're getting the new Android update, unlike iOS users. And when they do, they're almost inevitably stuck with bloatware.
I went from an iPhone 4S to an android phone and im having no issues with it, from a non technical view I can see why people would prefer iOS tho
this is all mainly down to android fragmentation which can easily give new users a bad impression of the platform as a whole, google should really be tightening up on who can produce what and how they produce it
Ill just go ahead and blame all the OEM Android installations with bloat. Plus Tim Cook is just trying to make Apple stiill look relevant.

Please elaborate on Apple's irrelevance.

All the cool kids are bashing Apple for everything, don't you know?

Motorola are really the only big company doing budget phones well though. The Moto E and Moto G pretty much completely dominate the low-end and mid-range.
iOS is far superior in my opinion, the 'freedom' given by android is basically pointless to the average user. The interface is cleaner and easier & and app store is so much better.
I can't even express how much I prefer my iPhone to the android I had before.
I use to be a huge supporter for Android.
Until I realized the freedom to change themes and play emulators was really not something I wanna do on a phone I would like to last longer then 5 hours. I also hated the feeling of my device becoming antiquated by new models almost instantaneous. The defragmentation for updates was also horrible during my time with a EVO 4G.
Even being into rooting, emulators, tethering, and customizing, I still prefer my iphone just for the simple fact it is a more streamlined experience.
Switched from Android to iOS earlier this year. I found myself not using the customisation of Android enough to justify staying with a relatively buggy, less frequently updated, and less aesthetically pleasing OS.
My only real problem with android is how horrifically slow certain manufacturers are at releasing updates. Lollipop was released over 8 months ago and my LG G2 still doesn't have it. Sure I could flash a different ROM but I shouldn't have to.
itt no-one had a proper android
People who claim they've had android when all they got their hands on are samsung shit-riddled phones are delusional if they think they represent android as a whole.
Samsung modifies its android so much it pretty much stops resembling it altogether, plus it's filled to the brim with bloatware and completely unstable. Get a proper one instead dinguses
I'm not going against apple here, the iphone, specially the 6 is a pretty solid phone. Specially when you compare it against the bottom 98% of the android market.
The samsung rant goes with pretty much any heavily modified android roms: ie. Lg, Sony, HTC. They cost for the brand and the hardware is generally shit

My merge :(
My experience with Android was consistently terrible, but I had terrible devices. My experience with iOS was decent enough, but the third party app support was garbage.
I'll just sit over here with the other 13 users of Windows Phone and scoff.
iOS is generally accepted to have the best third party app support. It's weird how you think that when you use WP.
