Yes, you've probably seen dozens of these threads, but I've made some pretty bad choices, so I'll rely on you, facepunch. You see, I've been using the Creative Live Aurvana headphones for a couple months, very satisfied with sound quality, though it isn't portable for shit. I travel a lot with em and one of the ear thingies just snapped off. Basically, I'll need headphones that are: Under 250$, (though you can suggest otherwise if it's reaaallly worth it) Easily adjustable A cord that doesn't fucking tangle around your neck or touch you too often Comfortable Closed Headphones prefered Portable And of course, awesome sound overall. Also, don't say Seinheiser, they don't really appeal to me that much. Thanks EDIT: The sr225 look quite amazing, good chance I'll go with them

Thanks
Logitech G35's are meant to be okay, Seinheiser are good though for all the criteria you gave, you aren't going to spend much time looking at them anyway if they're on your head, so it doesn't really matter if they appeal to you or not.
Logitech G35's have the most annoying cable ever though.
beats by dre or skullcandy hurf durf really now, get seinheisers you will not, WILL NOT REGRET IT
Sennheiser doesn't have all that good closed cans, but I'd recommend Beyerdynamics DT 770 PRO or AKG K 272 HD which both isolate noise really well and have good, accurate sound, although the Beyerdynamics sounds a bit more low-toned, "warmer" if you may. They're both in your price range. Whatever you get I wouldn't recommend "gaming" headphones for anything, if you insist on having a mic for gaming get a Zalman clip-on, the sound quality is miles better too and you can remove it when you're not using them as headsets. Also, if you're going with the AKG K 272 HD you get quite a good soundstage for gaming. Sound quality-wise, both phones are pure bliss, very low and high tones sound both very good. AKG phones adjust to your head with an elastic band which is really comfortable, you can adjust the band yourself in the Beyerdynamics but in my experience the fit wasn't as comfortable as with the AKGs. EDIT: fuck, you said portable, these both aren't the easiest to lug around, I just bought Sennheiser CX 400-II in-ears because the AKG phones are so ridiculously difficult to carry. That being said the CX 400-IIs are really great if you need something ultra portable, not quite as comfy as huge phones but the sound quality is almost the same, and noise isolation too.
Dr. Dre Monster Beats. 272 HD's are the bomb.
triplefi10 if in ear
Sennheiser doesn't have all that good closed cans
agreed, the HD280s are kinda muddy imo do not get beats by dre though, they are incredibly overpriced
agreed, the HD280s are kinda muddy imo do not get beats by dre though, they are incredibly overpriced
280's are not muddy at all, it's because they produce the sound without any frequency boost like in most consumer headphones

I'm not sure if this will help at all but you can buy those construction or shooters ear muffs and put your earphones, from an ipod or something, into the ear parts while having them on. Not sure about comfortability but they're around $50 and they have great sound cancellation. http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-R-01526-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O Maybe these are good, they have a jack where you can plug in your earmuff to your PC, or MP3 player, or whatever, it comes with a cable to do so. I mean, it's a cheap alternative.
one of the ear thingies just snapped off
I have the exact same headphones and the same thing has just happened to me, bag of shit headphones, I know I won't be buying from creative again.
it's because they produce the sound without any frequency boost like in most consumer headphones
i'm aware of that they still sound muddy
i'm aware of that they still sound muddy
I can't say because I only heard the HD 280 Pro through some really funky source in a local dept. store, but even then when comparing to the HD 555 on the same sorry excuse of a source the 280 sounded rather bad and muffled, like sain2051 said. For the record Beyerdynamics DT770 PRO and AKG K 272 HD which I recommended (the only thing close to OP's requests I have personally heard for longer perioids) are both studio monitors and sound far better and clearer with any sources. I wouldn't go around recommending anything I haven't personally heard, and then again I wouldn't buy anything I haven't personally heard. I keep saying this every time I post something relating to audio but sound is a very subjective matter.
The D2000's are great, I would recommend you take a look at them.
Audio Technica A700 with Leadtek mic boom mod (all you need are some pliers and velcro)
Beyerdynamic DT770
I have the exact same headphones and the same thing has just happened to me, bag of shit headphones, I know I won't be buying from creative again.
I wouldn't say they're shit, the only bad about them is that they weren't very portable and the materials were pretty cheap, but sound quality was excellent, especially for it's price. Also, I'm thinking of either the D2000's or the Seinheiser HD555, anymore suggestions?
Dt770 works for 250

hd55 and sr225 are open headphones

sennheiser's don't appeal to you? so you don't like things that are the best quality? just get whichever pair of sennheiser's you can afford. you can't go wrong.
Something by Grado.
sennheiser's don't appeal to you? so you don't like things that are the best quality? just get whichever pair of sennheiser's you can afford. you can't go wrong.
this kind of elitism is very bad [editline]03:31AM[/editline]
Something by Grado.
aren't all grados open headphones?
well he only said closed is prefered though, if you're going to spend $250 you might as well get some with all the features you want
sennheiser's don't appeal to you? so you don't like things that are the best quality? just get whichever pair of sennheiser's you can afford. you can't go wrong.
You sir, don't know jack shit about audio and have fallen for Sennheisers great marketing. The fact they're the dominant headphone brand in every dept. store doesn't make them best. Go listen to some brands you won't find in a Walmart and come to this thread again. That's like saying:
NVIDIA's don't appeal to you? so you don't like things that are the best quality? just get whichever NVIDIA card you can afford. you can't go wrong.
I would buy the HD555s , but definitely don't buy skullcandy.
this is why you don't come to facepunch for headphones everyone but a few love the only decent headphone brand they know, which is sennheiser also, half the people will give headphones that are OPEN rather than closed
G35 <3, although the wire is a bit annoyning.
