Well, I wanted to try Ubuntu out, so I went to try and install it on my other computer and this is what happens:

It does that for a while, and after a few minutes it does this:

After showing that screen it just sits there and the disk stops spinning.
I would appreciate any help, and if you want any more details please ask.

Additionally, I should say that Windows 7 installs fine, so I do not believe that it is a hardware issue (as in hardware failure of some type).
I can think of 2 options.
1. CD is corrupt
2. It hates your GPU
You could try to check the CD's integrity with md5sum or sha1sum or any other shasum. You'll need the hashes for the CD tho.

I mean the ISO. Checking the integrity of the CD isn't the easiest thin in windows. If you check the integrity of the ISO you can see if you need to re-download.
I believe it is the 2nd option. The CD was good, so I guess it just doesn't like the graphics card. The card in question is an nvidia 330m btw.
Press Ctrl + Alt + F2 when you get that messed up screen. Login as your user, and install the nvidia drivers.
I don't know the package name on ubuntu off hand but it's like
sudo apt-get install nvidia-drivers
Have you installed or is that happening in the LiveCD?

Ctrl + Alt + F2 did nothing.

It is not installed, and this is happening before I even get to choose what to do with the disk (live cd or install the OS).

I appreciate all the help by the way, thank you guys.
Visually it might not do anything but you can do it blindly.

The shortcut is Alt + F2! :eng101:
If you're in live environment and it didn't boot yet. It's probably that the CD is bad. Or the ISO.
Or it loads your GPU driver all wrong or even the wrong one.
Start in failsafe VGA mode. I believe if you mash some keys on your keyboard at the menu, you get options.

When in doubt, always mash the keyboard. Something is bound to pop up. :eng101:

One day someone will do that and type 'rm -rf *' by pure fluke.
