• Disable any 3D rendering?

I run TF2 in VMWare at the lowest graphic settings I can set. What I do with that TF2 client in VMWare is run a tool that connects to thousands of servers a day and collects data for this blacklist Basically, the TF2 client doesnt even stay connected long enough to finish loading, before moving on to the next server. I'd love to be able to cut down even more on the resources taken every time the TF2 client connects to a server. I'm almost able to play TF2 on my main account, while the VMWare machine runs. Right now it's still a little bit stuttery. So, is there any way to force Direct3D to simply render nothing, yet have TF2 not notice? Heck, even disabling loading textures and models would be great!
What exactly are you getting from the servers when you join? You might be able to query the source servers without even running TF2.

A lot of data is omitted in A2S [including detecting a fake player count] and some variables aren't reported [like sv_pure and sv_allow_wait_command] So I need a client to connect.
ah okay, try setting fps_max to like 1
ah okay, try setting fps_max to like 1
fps_max minimum is 30. Can't be set lower. Plus it doesn't stop the game from loading data and preparing to render. It's a tough one isn't it?
I could only think of looking for a low quality mod for tf2 with low poly models. Though that could lead to problems in sv_pure servers. I really don't think there is a way to prevent the models, textures, etc. without a hack. Try and look for modified configs for slow computers.

It's a rare question with a rare answer as most people don't want to see "nothing" when TF2 is running :p
