• Headphones not fully working with phone

So I got this in the mail the other day and I tried plugging it on my phone, my Sony Xperia Mini Pro said that it was unsupported. Since I'm like a hardware hacker, I messed around with it a little bit. The first thing was to test if the headphones worked in general, plugged it in my radio, it worked. Looking at the connector, it was a 3-pin connector and the headphones (or earphones, whatever you want to call it) was like a handsfree headset. So I tried this: plugging it roughly half way, it aparently worked, which means that third connector is part of the problem since it's the mic pin. The sound was the same as my radio. Then I plugged it in entirely after what I did before, the sound sucked, it was distorted and low quality. So I decided to mess with the buttons and found out that holding the center button on the control makes the sound full. Anyways, either Monster or Sony or Android better fix this.
"Hardware hackers" go about the same routine as I do when testing if headphones work
Get some poundland earphones.

Set your setting to headphones without a mic, if thats possible on a xperia.
Set your setting to headphones without a mic, if thats possible on a xperia.
how do I even do that?
I had something similar happen with my Samsung Galaxy Spica and my Meelectronics M9P headphones. If you hold the mic button down, it also went back to normal. The mic pin and ground pin are swapped in some phones. Meelectronics makes an adapter to fix this problem: http://www.meelec.com/MEE_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm I thought the price was a little much for something so simple, though I couldn't find something similar on eBay. If you do find something that works, please let me know. $15 shipped to Canada is a little much for something like that. [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] Actually, this seems like it will do the job for $2: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/3-5mm-Headset-Adapter-Samsung-Omnia-II-2-GALAXY2-II-/120782221320?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c1f2e7008#ht_3325wt_1110
the two dollar one looks nice, ima go to a local mall and check to see if they have this...
It's not super common, so I doubt they would carry them. Though what you could get anywhere is a headphone splitter. Since most splitters are for headphones only, rather than the headset you have now, it will allow you to use them as headphones without the mic or button working.
