• $500~ Rig for light gaming?

So I'm not sure what happened to my last thread, but.. well, I'm back. Anyway! The issue at hand is that I'm looking to build a light gaming rig using parts from newegg and/or other hardware sources that'll ship to Canada. As I said before, I'll only be using the machine for light gaming (the most graphically demanding game I'll want to play will be Guild Wars 2) school work, browsing, watching videos, etc. I don't know my hand from my ass when it comes to PC building, so I thought I'd consult you guys to get an opinion from somebody more experienced with this sort of thing. Aaaand again, here's a little something as an incentive to help me: Thanks, FP! Edit: Also, I won't need a monitor/mouse/speakers, as I already have some that are still in good shape. Also also, I'd ought to say that my budget is a bit flexible, and I'm willing to go up to (at most) $560.
Do you have an OS, hard drive, cd drive, case, anything you can reuse? Can you get me you're old builds specs if you have one?

i can sell you my burntout laptop for a price of $10... it still works but when you play minecraft it powersurges and it melts my keyboard.
To the above,

Might as well get this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194090
I'd avoid the CX series apart from the 430W model. [editline]6th March 2012[/editline] The Rosewill and Silverstone power supplies at that price seem to be able to deliver their rated wattage, from checking the realhardtech review database.
What precise model is that PSU? And Enermax is pretty farm good.
I have a sneaking suspicion that that wasn't meant to read 'farm'. [editline]6th March 2012[/editline] I'm sporting this one
I know that Enermax's high-end PSU's are great, but I've no idea about the lower-end ones...
I'm sporting this one
my friend ordered that exact psu this week for his build, how long have you had yours and what do you think of it?

It's made by the same company (CWT) as both the Enermax and the other PSU that was posted, and I suspect that they're fairly similar. The spelling "mistake" was my autocorrect's fault.

Really quiet, haven't had any problems at all. Seems nice. The low end here is produced by the same company that makes the CX500 and 430, and I very much doubt that Enermax would gamble their reputation. It has two 6-pin connectors, so it can run some cards which the CX430 cannot. I won't recommend upgrading to either PSU posted, as it obviously won't be much of an upgrade. I would recommend that the OP makes a choice: Either throw in ~60$ more or save 45$. For the extra 60 bucks, you'll get a much better card (I'm thinking a 6850 or a 6870), along with a PSU that can run it. For 45$ less, you get what you see right there.
Newegg's doing a sale at the moment where you can get the i3-2120 for $15 off if you make an account and find the promo code, and you can still combine that with a CPU/DVD combo. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.846582
