Pixar’s “Finding Dory” has crossed $1 billion at the global box office to become the fifth highest-grossing animated film of all time. The film is Pixar’s second billion-dollar grossing release, joining “Toy Story 3,” and the 12th Walt Disney release to hit that mark. It is also the fourth film by Disney to reach that milestone in the past 12 months, joining “Captain America: Civil War,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and “Zootopia.” “The Jungle Book” fell just short, earning $966.2 million globally. “Finding Dory” is the year’s highest-grossing domestic release with $485 million. It earned an additional $517 million internationally. The sequel to 2003’s “Finding Nemo” brought back original cast members Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks, and earned strong critical reviews. It follows Dory, a Pacific blue tang with short-term memory loss, as she tries to reunite with her family. Jesus. That was entirely unexpected.
Welp, time to go see it.
I mean, aside from ending, it was certainly quite alright. Although, it was nice to see Pixar release a solid sequel. I'm just surprised that it got 5th place of ALL time.
I watched Finding Dory and then decided to watch Finding Nemo out of nostalgia. The difference in animation quality, especially when the water was viewed from land, was ridiculous. Finding Dory is a beautifully-animated movie. Not as good story-wise as Finding Nemo and it jumped the shark (lol) a bit on some scenes, but still a good movie.
does this mean i have to watch finding dory now?
It was a good movie, funnier than Finding Nemo. Also the animations and effects are gorgeous.
I found it to be too cutesy and sappy, but to each their own.
it got released? i haven't heard from it since they talked about making it in the first place
it got released? i haven't heard from it since they talked about making it in the first place
Been out since this past summer, bro.
I enjoyed Octodad the movie
Disney killed it this year damn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_in_film
at this point disney alone is making like 80% of the money in the movie industry
Disney killed it this year damn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_in_film
Holy molly The Jungle Book is top 5, it is the creepiest disney movie I've ever seen. The bear and the orangutan are fucking scary.
it got released? i haven't heard from it since they talked about making it in the first place
Honestly I feel like they didn't do as much """modern""" advertising as they could have. When I say """modern""" advertising, I mean the less traditional forms of advertisement that are prevalent these days. There were no pop songs made just for the movie (even if it's not a musical, many animated movies still have a pop song in them such as Everything is Awesome from the Lego Movie) to shove the movie's presence in everyone's face. I personally hate the "force a pop song into everything" trend but you have to admit it's a good marketing trick. The movie came out back in June and there was a distinctive lack of marketing to the older crowd. They had all the advertising to kids/parents locked down (toys everywhere, ads across childrens media, etc) but when it came to advertising to the slightly older crowd (too old to be hit by the marketing across childrens media but not old enough to have kids that were hit by the marketing) they didn't do anywhere as good of a job as they could have. I saw a few ads for the movie on Youtube on my phone but that was about it. One thing they really had going for them was the lack of big name movies coming out around the same time. 6/10 big releases were: You had Now You See Me 2, Conjuring 2, Warcraft 6/17 big releases were: Central Intelligence, Finding Dory 6/24 big releases were: Independence Day: Resurgence 7/1 big releases were: The Legend of Tarzan, The Purge: Election Year, The BFG It wasn't until the week of 7/8 that Finding Dory was knocked out of it's #1 spot with the release of The Secret Life of Pets. If there had been more huge releases I feel like it probably wouldn't have dominated as hard unless they had advertised it more.
Pixar has typically avoided using pop songs in their movies. All the music done for them is usually specifically for the movie. The only exception I can think of is Cars? Maybe?
Disney killed it this year damn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_in_film
I wonder how much Petes Dragon and the BFG hurt them.
It was such a fucking average movie. The only redeeming quality for me was the Short before the movie. That was fantastic.
