Anime Peacock Voice Pack best stretch goal.
I wonder why those two people rated this dumb, because of the art style or because they're giving mane6 the engine for free.
So wait they crowd-sourced funding for DLC when they already make money from the released game? That seems pretty damn sleazy at the least
Apparently a fuckton of the funding came from last-minute contributions.
I wonder why those two people rated this dumb, because of the art style or because they're giving mane6 the engine for free.
Neither for me, I actually thought that was pretty cool they offered an indie studio their engine - even if it is a ridiculous one
This news pleases me.
PC release when
PC release when
Probably august or something. Actually probably further than that because now they have a lot more work to do (see: quite a bit of 1 character and 4 completely new characters on top of voices, stages, and stories for most)
So wait they crowd-sourced funding for DLC when they already make money from the released game? That seems pretty damn sleazy at the least
This dlc wouldn't happen if it wasn't for this kickstarter, in a nutshell, a bunch of people on the team got laid off because the publisher got sued for something unrelated, losing a ton of money, so labzero started this kickstarter so they could hire them again and release dlc(and a pc version of the game), don't call people sleazy unless you know the entire story. And if that wasn't all, they're giving away the dlc gained from this for free to anyone who downloads it the first two months.
So wait they crowd-sourced funding for DLC when they already make money from the released game? That seems pretty damn sleazy at the least
ugh this game was console only and is now getting a Windows, OSX, and Linux port. This is PC content. Sorry for people wanting a PC version version
So wait they crowd-sourced funding for DLC when they already make money from the released game? That seems pretty damn sleazy at the least
how about you grow a brain and learn about the situation first before calling people out
So wait they crowd-sourced funding for DLC when they already make money from the released game? That seems pretty damn sleazy at the least
Hardly. Ignoring all of the behind the scenes politics that happened, the developers didn't have enough money themselves and couldn't get enough private funding to make DLC that fans obviously wanted. So, they got the fans to pay for it upfront instead. I don't see how there is anything wrong with that.
I wonder why those two people rated this dumb, because of the art style or because they're giving mane6 the engine for free.
Probably because 830 grand for 8 characters is a bit... dumb.
Probably because 830 grand for 8 characters is a bit... dumb.
I see you have no idea how much it takes to create a game. Remember, this is a fighting game, the characters ARE the game, these are 60 frame per second hand drawn HD characters that have to be balanced with every single other character in the game. To put it into perspective, the average character for street fighter 4 and its dlc/expansions, cost one million dollars, EACH. And those were 3d models that used a lot of tweening for their moves, while the skullgirls moves have to be drawn frame by frame, they've even uploaded a few videos of the animator drawing them, even with her talent it still takes forever because not only does she have to animate them, she has to make the moves fit with hitboxes, and the other way around.
Probably because 830 grand for 8 characters is a bit... dumb.
Not really considering how much work they have to do. PC Port, 9 Voice packs, 8 Characters, 3 stages and stories. 8 people to pay with paychecks, they might even have to pay people to do voices for the voice packs assuming it isn't done inhouse. Oh, and what the guy above me said. It's a -ton- of work.
This is really awesome to see. Skullgirls is pretty damn good, and the amount of work the artists and developers put into it is insane. It's really cool to see the community pitch in to help them make the game bigger.
I heard they added some skin of a character by a guy who did some rule34 of this game.
I heard they added some skin of a character by a guy who did some rule34 of this game.
They hired/are collaborating with ZONE to animate for them.
I find it funny how people are so quick to judge the costs of something they have literally no insight in. [editline]28th March 2013[/editline]
They hired/are collaborating with ZONE to animate for them.
ZONE is really bro too, made and posted this on an animator stream just as Big Band got funded :v: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655158/epic_bigband.swf
They hired/are collaborating with ZONE to animate for them.
I like my 34 as much as the next guy, but working with a guy who does it with your stuff? That's like incest or something.
Afaik ZONE is a woman, at least it would make it less awkward since she auditioned for squigly's voice :v:

Even animators on Hollywood films barely scratch $100k per year in salary.
theres a lot of shit that you have to do as well as pay workers such as; licensing fees certification fees for each dlc voice actor contracting outsource or take a really long time to test the game - balancing being really important for a fighting game not to mention the animation of the characters takes a LOT of work
Yeah, I forget that, especially on Xbox, developers get hit with some nasty fees when they want to update their game. I mean, I still don't think it's equal, but I don't have a big problem with it or anything. People are getting what they want.
I like how you completely ignored that I said that a big title like street fighter 4 had a cost of a million per character, just for the actual making of the character nothing else. Some of the SF4 devs even weighed in on people acting like you and saying it was a fucking steal for that price.
I wonder why those two people rated this dumb, because of the art style or because they're giving mane6 the engine for free.
honestly it was pretty smart of them to do that they lumped a third character in with that tier knowing that MLP fans would very eagerly throw their money at it once it was within reach they essentially funded an entire third character in a manner of hours by taking advantage of a fanbase and it was fantastic
I just don't get how $1.7 million covered the complete game release and all the characters that came with it, yet 3 characters cost $800k, despite already having an established work flow and not having to work on the engine
Afaik ZONE is a woman, at least it would make it less awkward since she auditioned for squigly's voice :v:
Nah Zone is a dude
