Apparently, I have a problem with Quicktime where the older version cannot be removed. This, in turn does not let me install iTunes, which requires Quicktime. An error message pops up partway through installation, saying Quicktime.msi cannot be found. I even searched my computer, found Quicktime.msi, and directed the error to that, but it still didn't work. I've redownloaded the installer multiple times for both iTunes + Quicktime and just Quicktime by itself, it hasn't worked so far. Does anyone have any ideas?
Had this problem when uninstalling iTunes. Basically what you need is a Microsoft cleanup utility (I assume you run Windows). Remove all programs that have anything to do with Apple that you have installed, once you've removed the Apple programs install iTunes.

It's not a virus. I'm just saving you some time.
If you have advanced systemcare installed, remove it.
I say this because my sister used it on her account, and it was blocking itunes/quicktime so I removed it. She bitched at me because she "paid" for the full version.

This is it, thank you.

I wish I had a time machine so that I could have wasted late november-halfway through december doing fun things.
Run latest Revo Uninstaller, and uninstall every apple app you have, quicktime included.
Run latest Ccleaner and clean that shit up.
Install latest QuickTime Alternative.
Install latest iTunes.
QuickTime is a bugger, keeps wanting me to update it all the damn time with it's large flashy update box.

This is the problem, apparently.

Apparently the older version of Quicktime can't be removed, even though there is no trace of Quicktime on my computer.
Didn't you fix the problem? Weird. Download RegEditX. Then when it's installed use regeditx crawler (RegEditX > Regedit crawler I think if memory serves) and search for quicktime. Wait for it to finish finding entries and then shift-select the top and bottom results. Hit delete. Repeat for itunes.
It still seems to be having trouble removing the older version of Quicktime, even without anything being there.
Delete it from program files and program files (x86)
