(Reuters) - Serving as California governor cost Arnold Schwarzenegger at least $200 million, the bodybuilding star turned actor and politician told a newspaper in his native Austria, insisting 'it was more than worth it." Counting expenses and lost income from acting in Hollywood films, "in all it is probably more than $200 million," he told Krone when asked how much his two terms in Sacramento had cost. "But I'm not sorry. It was more than worth it," he said. "What was much worse was the damage my time as governor did to the family. There is a lot there that needs to be repaired," he said, recalling the many Sunday evenings when his wife, Maria, and children broke out in tears at his heavy work schedule. "We hate your job," Schwarzenegger quoted family members as saying during his early years as governor when he would leave his Los Angeles home every Monday morning for the capital, Sacramento, and not return until the end of the week. "It was heartbreaking every time," said Schwarzenegger, a Republican who served as governor from 2003 until early this month. "In my second term of office, I did better. I tried to fly home every evening."
Source: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE70D73Z20110114
I love arney, hes had the oddest career ever. Was he a good or bad govenor, not really up to date on everything, but i liked his stance on most things.
"In my second term of office, I did better. I tried to fly home every evening."
Wow, that's pretty committed to your family

Dayum. Until the day I see a Ukranian peasant come to power I will be certain money buys you power in the US of A (except for that Republican that spent 20 million or so on her campaign and failed).
money buys you power in the US of A
Haha, tell that to Meg Whitman.
Definitely read all his quotes in his voice. And based off what he said, he seems like a really nice guy.
Arnold has always come off to me as a really good guy.

why didnt his family move to sacramento?
Anyway, whichever way you look at it, Arnold is amazing. He went from being an Austrian peasant (oh look, is that the sound of marlkarx missing the point yet again?), to the best bodybuilder in the world, going on to star in the most entertaining and iconic films of his era, then becoming governor of freakin' California. That's an one hell of an CV.
The A in Arnold stands for Awesome.
He just kept California stagnant.
The A in Arnold stands for Awesome.
Everyone in californa hates him. personally I think hes a cool guy that just made a few bad budgeting choices.

He's a really nice guy, he is, but his political career was a bit lacking. Bit of a shame, really
I thought he actually lost 200mil. Not lost income.
He's a really nice guy, he is, but his political career was a bit lacking. Bit of a shame, really
Least he didn't totally tank California like his fellow actor Jesse Ventura did to our state.

Arnold is a good man [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] I'm his biggest fan
Arnold is a good man [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] I'm his biggest fan
I don't see how.
I don't see how.
What do you mean
Schwarzenegger's life still fascinates me, I'm mean we're talking about a guy who has dominated life in every aspect, and this all from a boy from Thal, a poor Austrian village. Good Governor? Probably not. Very intelligent and incredibly successful? Yes.
He basically screwed over California, but I liked him either way.
I wouldn't say he's the best California has had but he wasn't nowhere near the worst, hell he actually did a good job in some respects and he's generally an awesome guy on top of that!
Arnold. You sir. Are fucking awesome.
President Schwarzenegger. If only...
