Well good for Valve, at least now I know that if I ever get a Mac, I'll still be able to play Source games without having to boot into windows.
That should definitely increase the amount of customers Valve will get, too, since the saying will be "You can't play games on a mac, unless it's a source game."

Macs have right click.
Huh
Click back.
And I think it's a pretty good idea. They're opening up to a new audience / existing audience and giving more platform choice.
Assuming they don't go way of the console where they ended up leaving updates in the dust of course.
I wonder if Garry will bother with porting GMod.
Any idea if we'd have to buy mac versions of the game separately?
we have added a new feature, called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge.
All twelve mac gamers have never been happier
"We looked at a variety of methods to get our games onto the Mac and in the end decided to go with native versions rather than emulation," said John Cook, Director of Steam Development. "The inclusion of WebKit into Steam, and of OpenGL into Source gives us a lot of flexibility in how we move these technologies forward. We are treating the Mac as a tier-1 platform so all of our future games will release simultaneously on Windows, Mac, and the Xbox 360. Updates for the Mac will be available simultaneously with the Windows updates. Furthermore, Mac and Windows players will be part of the same multiplayer universe, sharing servers, lobbies, and so forth. We fully support a heterogeneous mix of servers and clients. The first Mac Steam client will be the new generation currently in beta testing on Windows."

Interesting, I'm surprised they actually went so far as to port it but that's a good thing really.

I wonder if porting mods and content will be hard.

It's called get a different mouse if you want to play games on your Mac.
I wonder if this'll mean you'll be able to run source games using openGL in windows. (I'm pretty sure there was an option in goldsrc games to switch between DX and openGL, wasn't there?)
But.....now we have nothing on macs.
Except the fact that they are insanely over priced and that most people who buy they are ignorant morons.
:toot: I'm happy. And I seem to be the only one? Lol, all you windows people.
