Sounds a bit like the facebook Civ game.
Every MMO I've ever played was grindy as fuck so they could squeeze every little dime out of you, and anyone who said it was fun to me felt like stockholm syndrome. I'm sure there could be a good non-grindy MMO - nothing is inherently wrong with that concept - it's just that the whole business model both incites and rewards greed. With the pay-monthly route, the longer you play the more money they make, so they want to delay everything you do by as much as possible. For the F2P stuff they make the 'free' part of the game grinding hell and unfun with only glimpses and samples of actual entertainment so the only bearable way of playing the game without being an absolute jew or waste of time is to use money on it - and even then they still overprice everything because people will defend it because 'the game is free, don't complain'. [editline]8th August 2013[/editline] I hope all F2P games crash and die. The only good one I've ever played was TF2 and that's because it started out as a game you had to pay for so it never came with any of those bullshit elements in the first place. And even then I haven't played it in years. [editline]8th August 2013[/editline] /rant

[editline]8th August 2013[/editline] /rant[/QUOTE] MMOs generally have the one fatal flaw that, since thousands of people are to play on the same server at the same time, anything [I]you[/I] personally do doesn't ever matter, and the game can't really progress in any real way, so it all essentially boils down to fetching boar tusks because reasons. Planetside is the only one I can think of that does this differently.

If they aren't for you they aren't for you, but I personally can't stand grinding, and I've played many good MMOs and a handful of good free ones as well.

It's an FPS that puts you in the position of one of those no-name soldiers which is unlike pretty much every other FPS ever. It also forces you into a community, a group of some kind, which creates an amazing sense of belonging and worth. The best experience I've ever had with one was WoW in it's hayday, but that's gone now. The best one currently I'd say is Warframe, and that's not really an 'MMO', and it's still pretty grindy (although thank the lord not as much as some other games).
