Hello there FacePunchers, I want to update my BIOS but I find myself unable to do so.
I have an ASUS X54H with Windows 8.1 x64. I went to the ASUS website and they offer updates only for Windows 7.

Regardless of that I downloaded the latest version of BIOS that they offered and received a strange file with a .208 extension. I don't know what to do with it.

Several forums have told people with similar problems to download and try an executable called WinFlash. When I do so and try to install it I receive a message telling me that my computer is not compatible.

I have entered into the own BIOS and tried to update it but once again I found myself unable to do so...

I'm starting to get desperate about this...can anyone here please help me?
Couple things,
Is your battery shot, as it probably wont let you try to flash the bios with a shady power source as you could brick your computer
Winflash doesnt work on a whole lot of devices, it did come with my asus u50f though.
Are you sure the version you downloaded is newer than the version you have? There should be a version number/date somewhere in the bios.
Also why do you want to update your bios so bad?
My battery is weird, even if it says that it is at a full charge the computer won't start unless it is plugged. It doesn't gets shut down but instead enters in a hibernation like state.
I at first wanted to update the BIOS just to have everything nice and correct but as more problems arose I just wanted to update it due to pure frustration.
Have you tried the Asus suite thing? It can install BIOS for you

yeah, your battery is shot. Mine does the same thing. Says 100%, you unplug it, and like 30 seconds later it hibernates.
Good luck being able to update with it like that :/
Updating the BIOS does not fix a stuffed battery, leave it as is and replace the battery.
Why do you want to update your laptop BIOS anyway?
