Thought I'd make a demonstration video of Steam Big Picture Mode for those who haven't tried it yet, although I suspect a lot of you have. I'm forecasting a lot of boxes but hopefully not.

I was too lazy to click that giant button, so thanks for showing me what's hiding behind it.

Your sarcasm is appreciated
That keypad is pure genius

It really is cleverly designed
You can press "Y" to zoom in if need be. Dunno why you'd do that-- if you can't see shit.
That's me!
This really is a big step in the right direction in merging PC and console gaming.

I said it cause when I tried to zoom in, it didn't work properly first time haha
I took a quick look at it a while ago but didn't realize it was so fully featured. Cool.
No offense, but welcome back from what?
Anyone know if PS3 controllers are supported? Or do you need a special PC controller?
"Hey guys, welcome back"
Do I know you?

I'm pretty sure the video isn't dedicated to you.

This will make your controller emulate a 360 controller, though button prompts will come up as 360.

I make YouTube videos on a regular basis, and on this one occasion I decided to post it on Facepunch too...
I knew I recognized that voice from somewhere.

shit son i can make netflix a favorite god damn
take your $60 fee and shove it up your ass microsoft god damn i feel great
now fix the damn client on my own fucking pc already.
i'd like an experience similar to big picture, especially since it doesn't seem to lock up every time you move to a new thing.
So this is where they put the ideas for their steam console :v:

I tried to set up a dedicated box for steam big picture, and it doesn't work too well. You still have to have a mouse and keyboard at times to complete installations as well as type in information like CD keys and the like.
Thanks for all the positive feedback by the way, I never expected it to go this well...

I don't have a problem with the client? I used to have a ton of lock up's on my PC until I got an SSD and 8GB+ of RAM. Although if you aren't running much at the time, RAM shouldn't make a difference.
Unrelated to Steam but when I got an SSD it decreased my boot times into Windows with all startup programs with 3 mins 30 seconds to 20 seconds
This is exactly how i'd imagine steam IF if it where on a console.
Its a really nice step away from sitting from your pc, and makes it a hell of a lot easier to have your friends watch you play games.
Just bumping this to ask if Big Picture would work with a VGA/DVI Graphics Card?
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
For clarity I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 240 from Evga

Yeah it would work fine. Just it's more difficult to get the audio. I think it's not possible to get audio through VGA without seperate cables. Not sure about DVI even though it is a digital format.

I doubled checked and it turns out there is an HDMI port on my card.
But thanks for the help anyway.
Now I REALLY want to find a bluetooth-adapter for my PC that supports PS3-controllers. Along with that and the DS3 Tool I can make Steam think that I'm using an Xbox-controller, right now it's just a pain in the ass because I have to do it with the 1,5m charge-wire. And my TV and the couch is a wee-bit further away than that.
That's pretty cool, i think i might end up using Big Picture Mode at some point in the future.

You don't need it to think it's a 360 controller, it works with most gamepad's

Well the program that fools it into thinking so is handy, for example in Dark Souls it just works. I don't think the actual PS3-controller even works properly without the tricks the program performs to make it work.

i thought the drivers for it were finally signed
