That gender "debate" is years old. They constantly switch from calling the pyro him/her in blog posts and add shit like the purse in his locker. Just valve fucking with the community

I doubt the Pyro's gender will be revealed, just like how Valve will never fully reveal who the G-man is. It would completely change their character.

Another tidbit I saw on my valve tour. I'll tell you that the Pyro's gender is NOT revealed.
Though that's pretty obvious that they wouldn't reveal it.
I wonder if Meet the Pyro will be a video shot by the Director. It doesn't seem like Meet the Medic was, and from the preview picture it doesn't seem like it's likely this one will be either.
Apparently there's rumors that Meet The Pyro will include video from his POV

The purse wasn't added to confuse people about the gender. In fact, I'd wager that the pyro was male at first. TF2 concept art and official artwork adds to that. The purse was there as a joke, to suggest that the the pyro was a "flamer", but then someone misunderstood and the whole gender thing sparked, and Valve simply uses it now.

I imagine a shower scene (maybe during the few seconds after the end where they usually play one more gag) with ambiguous reactions from the other characters with the viewer not being able to see Pyro's body because of the first person perspective.
I hope that it turns out that pyro is extremely androgynous.
