• Unable to select Stereo Mix on Vaio, ideas?

Hi there. As with all computer users, there comes a time when you wish to record directly from your soundcard, something I had no problem with on my old XP computer. However, after recently purchasing a Sony Vaio laptop, I find I am now unable to record from my soundcard. It doesn't appear under normal options and right-clicking and selecting Show Disabled Devices doesn't work. I've tried downloading VAC (Virtual Audio Cable), but I can't get that to work either. So, I'm asking if any of you fellow facepunchers have any suggestions? I'm running Vista on a Sony Vaio NW11S.
I am in the exact same situation with my old Dell who also disable Stereo Mix. I looked everywhere to get it fixed, but I eventually gave up. Installing Windows 7 OEM actually allowed me to select Stereo Mix, but it outputs no sound and is completely useless, not to mention installing the latest creative drivers removes the option. You might want to try again to get Virtual Audio Cable working. It's the only solution I have found so far.
