So my sister wants a laptop to take to class. It needs to be small, light and have a good battery life. Is this at all possible?
Kinda cheap, at that price I'd probably get a Nexus 7 and a case that has a keyboard/stand.
Maybe XE303C12-A01US ?
This is for my sister. While she's not exactly technologically illiterate, she would definitely have a hard time adapting to a new os. Any other suggestions? I realize that a budget of $250 results in slim pickings, if I talked her up to 300-350 how much better would the options be.
You should look around craigslist/ebay, you might be able to find something decent in that price range.

Chrome OS is really user friendly and easy to use. There's always netbooks... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215434 I have one of these and it works well enough. No clue what OS it comes with or specs, since they aren't listed.
