So I just got 5.1 surround sound for my pc and I was wondering if there is some app I can use to channel all the sound to the "back" or the "front" to make sure I have it all setup correctly
Do this. Go into your Sound settings. You should see a bunch of stuff that says Speakers, Realtek, etc. Right click on your speakers and go into properties. Go into advance and press "test".

And the way to get into your sound settings is to press that little speaker looking button in the corner if your screen, pick "Playback devices."

What kind of speakers do you have? I have some Logitech X-540 and there's a Matrix option. When you click that, then it makes all your speakers will play a certain sound. There's a load of difference between normal and matrix.
Those are the exact same ones I have
How do you have them placed? Right now I just have them all in front of me but surround sound disabled. I dunno where to put them since I sit at a desk and can't actually put them behind me

...then getting 5.1 probably wasn't the best decision you have ever made. A 2.1 of the same price would do you much better..

Meh I'll live...needed new speakers anyways
3 extra speakers sounds better even when just in stereo mode
And how do you test them seeing as we both have the same speakers?
Heres my control panel

I live in California. Where do you live? What is it like living in needed new speakers anyways 3 extra speakers sounds better even when just in stereo mode? garry programmed me to say specific things in specific contexts. Who is your favorite Science Fiction author?
Having the X-540's (like me) wont differ your control panel option's for testing. These are controlled by your sound card. Try checking your taskbar for any specific sound SOFTWARE (not windows crap). If you open the sound card's software there should be a way of testing in it. How are they wired to your computer?

I have the green plug and the black plug plugged in. The manual said to leave the orange one unplugged since (I believe) I have a 4 channel sound card (Creative EMU10K1 SB Live! Audio Processor)
