I was half seriously saying to my friends, this should happen during this comp season.
I'm very ok with this if it's for player who constantly on purpose do this, but crashes and connection issues can happen, and you shouldn't get banned from those.
In dota it's much easier to join back after a crash and such, i hope they would implement a similar system.
and what if the power goes out?

Read the article. Permanent competitive bans happen if you've been banned from multiple seasons.

If your power goes out frequently enough that you're an ongoing problem, you have more important issues than overwatch.
I like that change.
Fine with me, as long as there's no people getting permabanned for accidental leaving.
Blizzard are usually smart with their bans so I wouldnt be worried. Unless you leave constantly and fuck up everyone's matches, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Yeah of course they aren't gonna be permabanning people for the odd internet dc or whatever.
If you have a recurring issue that is bad enough that you are constantly forced to abandon games, you really shouldnt be playing ranked in the first place. It sucks and might not be in your control but all you are doing is ruining the game for everyone else on a coin flip.
If players are so toxic or ragequit so much that they are banned from multiple seasons then they do deserve a permanent ban because they obviously aren't capable of handling ranked.
Sounds great. Throwers are a bigger problem than disconnections though.
