That's right Here's the video of the news broadcast from KOINLocal 6 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=be0_1267567332 http:www.koinlocal6.com
CORNELIUS, Ore. - A local business owner is flabbergasted after a shipment of 30 toy guns for his store was confiscated by ATF agents in Tacoma. Brad Martin and his son, Ben, sell the Airsoft BB guns from their store in Cornelius where they’ve been in business for seven years. The Martins said they buy their stock from Taiwan because the merchandise is less expensive. But the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives seized a shipment of 30 in October. That shipment is worth around $12,000 and the ATF is promising to destroy the entire shipment. Special Agent Kelvin Crenshaw said the toys can be easily retro-fitted into dangerous weapons. "With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun," Crenshaw said. Brad Martin is furious about the loss of money, for sure, but also in what he now thinks as a loss of his time and the use of government agents to seize toy guns. "All this manpower, all this time, all this taxpayer money, [it is] wasting my time and my profitability,” Martin said. “[Just] to seize 30 toy guns!" Ben Martin disagrees that the toy guns could ever be considered dangerous. "To say these are readily convertible to machine guns is absolutely preposterous,” he said. “The round wouldn't go into the firing chamber and even if the firing pin did strike the primer the gun would basically blow up in your face.” ATF said it also seized the toys because they are missing the blaze orange tips required on all imported toy guns. The Martins said they've received shipments before from Taiwan that were missing the orange tips and were simply asked by customs agents to drive up to Tacoma and paint the tips orange themselves. They are wondering why it is an issue now.
Now let me bring your attention to this part right here... Right after showing the guy try to load a magazine in backwards, obviously unfamiliar with even watching a god damn war movie, much less actual weapons, he says this:
With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun
I Facepalm'd So hard my nose is bleeding If by Minimal work he means actually going out and purchasing 90% of the real thing, then I suppose you could. That clown looks like a High School dropout in a suit anyway, he obviously has no Business being employed as an 'ATF Special Agent'
If you could even possibly convert it, it would still be inaccurate as hell and wouldn't survive the first shot.
You would need basically the entire weapon from a real thing to be able to use it... You could get away with using the Stock, the pistol grip, the heatshield... But that's it, The rest would have to come from a real weapon, or be made for a real weapon, which means you should just go get a real weapon

It's true, the only way you can convert an Airsoft Rifle to a Real Rifle is by taking a real rifle and putting a few Non-essential Airsoft Weapon parts on it... The ATF Dropout guy has it completely backwards... Kind of like the magazine

thats a great news program
"With minimal work it could be converted to shoot your eye out" That would be the only possible issue I could see here, and that's why you wear eye protection!
ATF said it also seized the toys because they are missing the blaze orange tips required on all imported toy guns.
THE ATF ISN'T SEIZING THE GUNS BECAUSE THEY COULD BE CONVERTED INTO MACHINE GUNS, IT'S SEIZING THEM BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE ORANGE BARREL-TIPS THAT'S BEEN REQUIRED TO BE ON AIRSOFT GUNS FOR CENTURIES without the orange tip, they could be used as fake weapons for crimes, or some innocent airsoft user could get hurt by someone thinking that it's a real gun; both scenarios have happened numerous times before. the article is misleading
So America are allowed guns, but their toy guns need orange at the barrel's end? lol.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
That's fucking stupid. It's impossible to convert airsoft guns into real weapons. I fucking swear to god.
Well if that's the case then fair enough.
With minimal effort it could be turned into a machine gun? Lol. But where would they get the bullets.
That's fucking stupid. It's impossible to convert airsoft guns into real weapons. I fucking swear to god.
except they aren't seizing them because they can be turned to weapons, they're seizing them because they don't have the orange tip on the barrel.
I'm jealous. At least they let you have airsoft guns there. Fucking New York. Airsoft guns aren't allowed because of the super strict gun laws, but somehow every criminal manages to get their hands on a gun anyway.
Fucking New York. Airsoft guns aren't allowed because of the super strict gun laws, but somehow every criminal manages to get their hands on a gun anyway.
actually New York City has a lower violent crime rate than most other major American cities
With minimal effort it could be turned into a machine gun? Lol. But where would they get the bullets.
The local gun store perhaps?
"With minimal work it could be converted to shoot your eye out" That would be the only possible issue I could see here, and that's why you wear eye protection!
You don't need anything converted to shoot your eye out. :v: BREAKING NEWS: Toy guns a danger to children; encourages tactical LARPing and satanic worship. Real guns, however, are okay because we have the right to bear arms. :foxnews:
They did the research that they can be converted into real guns but can't show you the documentation. Sounds fake to me. Also you're in america it would be easier to buy a real gun for gods sake.
with MINimal EFfORT this CCCAN be turned IN TO a .... FUCK
except they aren't seizing them because they can be turned to weapons, they're seizing them because they don't have the orange tip on the barrel.
Further reading also indicates they were told to paint to orange tips onto the guns themselves. This also shows something of just how wonderfully coordinated the nation's security departments are.
Further reading also indicates they were told to paint to orange tips onto the guns themselves. This also shows something of just how wonderfully coordinated the nation's security departments are.
Do you really expect every customs officer to report to the ATF every single bit of information that could in any way be useful to them? You're grasping at straws to criticize the government. Communication between departments is important but something to the extent that you're asking is, speaking realistically, impossible. Talk about bureaucracy.
Why the fuck are they worried about toy guns without orange tips when they should be looking for the 1500+ ACTUAL guns that went missing over the past few years from goverment agencies.
You didn't read the article, in the past all they had to do was go to some place and get the toys painted only is this being made into an issue.
i'm an airsofter and i have to say that the article is pretty fucking dumb. to say that you could turn an airsoft gun into an actual, working machinegun is like saying you can turn a old junked up car into a brand new Lamborghini. sure, on the outside it looks the same, but on the inside it is COMPLETELY different. to even attempt to turn an AEG into a rifle would cause more damage to yourself out of raw stupidity than if you actually managed to get it to work(at which point it would only blow up in your face) reporter is stupid. article writer is stupid. airsoft guns are cool. :colbert:
You didn't read the article, in the past all they had to do was go to some place and get the toys painted only is this being made into an issue.
I know that. I'm just pointing out that the guns were confiscated for them not having the orange tips instead of because the ATF thought they could be turned into machine guns like everyone in this thread thinks
I know that. I'm just pointing out that the guns were confiscated for them not having the orange tips instead of because the ATF thought they could be turned into machine guns like everyone in this thread thinks
Then after painting the tips orange they should get the gun back, the article also states that the shipment was worth about $12,000 and the ATF is threatening to destroy them all. A local business can't take a $12,000 hit laying down and they're justifying it saying that the guns can be turned into real firearms.
actually New York City has a lower violent crime rate than most other major American cities
Doubtful. It didn't stop that one Vietnamese guy from getting an AK-47, which was probably illegal to begin with, and then shooting up a bunch of people in an immigration office.
Actually, now that you say it I think he is onto something, perhaps you can convert the airsoft rifle into a bomb by filling it with gunpowder.
With minimal work it could be converted into a IED. Exploding Ak-47's! Afgans are crazy for them!
